I'm on raspbian 8, up to date, with original repos in sources.list.
Thanks.
As far as I know if you mean Raspbian 8 = Raspbian Wheezy, libcec3 is not in the repos.

You will have to build it.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I really mean Raspbian 8 (jessie), according to this page:

Just upgraded from 14.2 to 15.2 with Raspbian (wheezy) on my RPi 2.

Now, what is the proper command on how to start Kodi to get to the GUI?

kodi-standalone doesn't work anymore.

Thanks.

???
My Wheezy version is 15.1!
15.2 is Jessie only.
If you installed one of my packages, start it with "startkodi" or from the program menu on the desktop.
If you installed some other package, you must start it with "kodi-standalone" .

I've installed using your method you've provided from first post.

'startkodi' didn't work either.

Nope. I built 15.2 for Wheezy and it works perfect.

I tried installing Jessie's 15.2, but it doesn't seem to work when I use 'startkodi'.

/usr/local/bin/startkodi: line 8: kodi: command not found

It can be built for Wheezy, of course, but my 15.2 package in the OP was built for Jessie (different dependencies).

The installation process must have shown errors, because dependencies couldn't be fulfilled. Use 15.1 for Wheezy or try to find another package provider if you want 15.2 for Wheezy.

I've just published a new version for Jessie based on the popcornmix isenguard-rpb-backports branch. This fixes some problems with HD TS files or streams.
Thanks to popcornmix for helping me to create this version.

Please stop abusing this offer

Wed Dec 16, 2015 10:54 am

I consider it abuse if people download these packages a dozen times or more (not new versions but always the same package). And some people even do this repeatedly.

I also consider it abuse, if a company (max2play.com) offering a paid premium service which includes delivering and updating kodi just uses our server for its service and doesn't even ask if that is OK. They could host a copy on their own server and pay for the traffic themselves.

I have to keep the traffic of our server (run by a charity organization) within reasonable limits. If abuse doesn't stop I have to withdraw the kodi packages completely.

I'm watching .ISO DVD images from NAS. Some of the DVDs work fine (although there are problems with some menus), but in some DVDs the audio and video are out of sync a couple of seconds. All DVDs I'm using are PAL. Any idea what could cause this?

I'm using 15.2-3-rpi2-backports.

Thanks for creating these packages!

No. And as I don't have any DVDs I cannot test it.

@torbenp

First make sure that there are no network problems.

Almost every DVDs use the mpeg-2 codec, and the Raspberry Pi, by default, doesn't use hardware acelerated decoding for that format, because of licensing issues. It can decode mpeg-2 by software but that can be slow and cause your issues.

Confirm what codec it uses, and if it is mpeg-2 you can buy the license and it will run fine.

Is anyone having trouble with UPnP and the black screen issue on the latest 15.2 build for Jessie (kodi-15-jessie-rpb.tar.gz)? Kodi itself seems to work fine, but I cannot browse my DLNA shares over UPnP and when I exit it still goes to black screen. Everything I've read says the black screen issue was fixed. The UPnP issue is a deal breaker for me. It works fine in Kodi 14.2 for Wheezy (and literally every other version of Kodi/XBMC I've ever used). I didn't get any errors during installation, so I'm not sure what is going on. I tried installing multiple times, even did clean OS loads, then clean installs of Kodi, but the issues persist? Thoughts? I followed all the instructions to the letter and as I said, I did not encounter any errors, so I'm a little lost. Really don't want to have to downgrade if I can avoid it.

Nevermind. UPnP is suddenly working out of the blue. I let it sit overnight and didn't touch it and now I can browse UPnP shares.... weird. Still have the black screen on exit issue though. This is on a Raspberry PI 2 Model B.

How do you start kodi?
It starts via startkodi automatically on boot. I set ENABLED=1 in /etc/default/kodi. Judging by the contents of the startkodi script, I don't see why it wouldn't return to a normal shell.

The automatic starting process doesn't use the startkodi script at all. I also assume that is runs as user "kodi", not "pi" (or any other use name).
The whole idea of installing kodi on Raspbian is to use it as one program among many not to run is as a standalone media system; for this I would recommend OpenElec.

Hello everybody,

I am using Retropie distribution on raspberry pi, which includes Kodi 15.
I have installed through apt-get, the kodi.pvr.vuplus for my vu+solo2.

Unfortunately, the API version required by Kodi 15.2 is 1.9.6, and the pvr version installed is 1.9.2.
Even after running and apt-get update & upgrade, i still have this 1.9.2 version.

In consequence, the pvr does not load with an ERROR in my log refering to this problem of API version.

Could you please help me finding my way out ?

Thnaks for nay help you can provide !!

PVR.wmc for Kodi 15 Raspbian RPi2

Tue Dec 29, 2015 2:59 pm

I have followed the instructions to download the kodi-pvr* packages, however, I don't see the Server WMC plug-in (pvr.wmc). Does anyone have instructions how-to download and install it?

Windows Media Center was discontinued by Microsoft.
