how to edit/upload files to lighttpd

Mon Feb 09, 2015 6:12 pm

i've installed lighttpd on ubuntu (soon i will get my pi3 and will try on it).

i've a question. how can i edit the index file or really transfer my own files to the www folder?

seems as it cannot be done with the GUI. and i'm not sure how it can be done.

so in short: i've installed lighttpd and duckdns but i don't know why i don't have permission to edit or add files to the www folder.

how can i solve that?

i'm a beginner to linux and just can't find a solution on the web.

thank you people

Assuming you are using windows you can copy files to to pi with winscp.
If you need to edit the rights you can do so with

Code: Select all

sudo chmod -R 0777 /var/www
There are many other ways of doing what you want (windows share, etc) but try the simple way first.

so writing the command will allow me to add files to the www folder?

and winscp is a program that allows the transferring of files from windows and dreamweaver?

edit:
ok i wrote the command. now files can be copied but for some reason it shows the 403 error even tho i've the index file in place.
how can it be possible?

typed it again and now it is working fine. there was no need for the second command...

now i've this in mind:
how exactly do i point my real domain name to be working with duckdns. i don't just want to use a subdomann of duckdns.

would also appreciate your guidance this time..

edit:
i don't know why but can't reach my website with another device.

i get the 404

edit:
it actually seems now to not load at all by using the internet. it's working just with my home network.
