Solid State Relay advice.

Fri May 23, 2014 4:01 am

Hi,
Just registered and am looking some advice re SSR. I have the sainsmart 8 channel relay at the minute and it works well.
Is there an equivalent Solid State Relay as I need one that will work silently?

how much voltage/amperage are you working with on the other side of the relay and is it AC or DC
sound dampening a option? or perhaps sound cancellation, not exactly cheap solutions but options none the less

Hiya

Silent relays are latching relays, they latch and turn off the coil, next time the coil is 'energised' the latch releases. So you only send a latch / unlatch command for about a second.

Large versions of this type are used in hospitals for lighting, the relay does all the hard switching but no coil noise or current usage.

Some info here >>> http://www.azatrax.com/latching-relay-circuits.html

This is a mechanical system not an electrical self hold circuit.

If in doubt please ask.
