Woo! Got my invitation yesterday. Registered my interest around 6:10 I beleive.

I don't recommend anybody trying to make the purchase using their mobile browser though as mine wouldn't let me complete the telephone number field (required) as it just kept auto completing with underscores. Furthermore, it wouldn't let me use the code again when I tried on a PC, however luckily I left it overnight and it now seems to work - phew!!

Anyway, order now placed, number 471#

Mine arrived on Wednesday, it took 24 hours after the postage email.  I'd left a note on my door to leave the parcel round the side of the house which the parcel force guy duly did, so I didn't have to collect it which was good.

Interestingly when I clicked on the tracking link it showed that I signed for it (I was at work at the time!) and a strange signature image on the website that looked nothing like mine, but was my name just scrawled down.    So it looks like the ParcelForce guy just forged it.

No harm done and it saved me a trip to the depot but worrying none the less...

It looks like any order that shipped dhl didn't get a dispatch email. I found out yesterday that DHL tried to deliver mine, but couldn't find the house :( can't wait till monday lol!

Thank you. I'll have to do it twice for the two sources.

Received order info May 10 and ordered that day. Got a call this morning from DHL that it will be here today (May 14th). Not too shabby. Delivery to California. Order was 3944.

Just got the invite and ordered. Site was very sluggish, chose the paypal option and it all went through except the last bit when it was supposed to return me to the RS site. I got this...
Error

An error has been encountered. The IT department has been notified of this error and will endevour to fix any problems as soon as possible.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.
Was pretty annoyed, but decided to check email before complaining. And glad I did because I had an email saying...

"Thank you for your Raspberry Pi order, your order reference number is: 5179" 8-)

Hurrah :)

Thank you for your Raspberry Pi order, your order reference number is: 5541

So they are ticking over quite fast. I also got the error message though earlier in the process.

Finally got an invite, and I don't know why, my Visa card got declined :(
Now if I try to enter the order site, it tells me "The code entered is invalid, please correct". Darn it! :(

Some people have had luck with waiting an hour and the code resetting.
I chose Paypal because the RS site was sluggish and I thought Paypal would be big enough to cope, whereas RS site might not. It gave an error, but at least it went through :)

I got the same thing "The code entered is invalid, please correct" after looking at the price + shipping + tax and then balking at the $50 final price and then trying to go back in. I had already had one on order from farnell but a friend was going to buy this one. Both he and I agree its too much.

Is there some FAQ or something on why this company is charging tax? I looked at their site but couldn't find anything. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I buy hundreds of things a year online and never pay tax or shipping. Also, $8 tax!! That's 23%.

Anyway, guess I'll pass for now.

I got my email an hour ago. I had ordered by 16:15 BST. I too good an error on the final page but I received an order confirmation email so I think I'm ok. Order number 5172. I placed my "expression of interest" with RS at around 6:08.

You don't say what country you're in. Different countries have different tax arrangements. How do you manage to avoid shipping charges on hundreds of products a year? $50 is about £30 isn't it? That's the same as everybody else is paying. Your choice. All the more for the rest of us. :P

I don't get it...
I have the chance to order and now if I want one, I'll basically be charged for the price of two Pi's.

Raspberry Pi Type B Single Board Computer 1 Each US$35.00
Goods total US$35.00
Tax US$7.00
Standard Delivery (Despatch expected within 10 week(s)) US$8.02
Order Total US$50.02

So yeah, the Pi foundation came up with a way of putting together a system for the base price and order fulfillment has developed a way to double the price. I think the foundation site should change their title to properly reflect true pricing. :|

I'll ignore your snark for now, but I'm sure you can imagine what'll happen if you keep it up.

Those prices do not sound correct. Can you let us know where you're ordering from, and what country you're in?

As for snark...I apologize if this is considered offensive.

Liz, I can confirm that price. Mine was $35 + tax + shipping for $50. I am ordering from America. I ordered an hour ago. So excited for it to arrive!

On an unrelated note, I remember you saying that you wanted to make a touch screen recipe book for your kitchen? Are you still doing that? I told my Fiancee about your plans and when the PI's are more available we want to get her one to use in our new kitchen. I'm hoping your going to write some instructions? That would be lovely.

Just got my activation code email and went to order, but then had to leave the PC for a short while, and got the 'code not valid' thing when I came back. Hoping it resets in an hour!

I must say I did baulk a bit at the shipping price of £5 with a delivery time frame of 10 weeks!

Isn't this a bit of a rerun of the discussions we were having almost three months ago. The Price of a Pi in the UK is about £30 after tax and postage. The price of a Pi in US is about $50 after tax and postage. The pound/dollar exchange rate is currently about 1.6. In other words £30 is worth just under $50. Where is the issue?
