Liz,

Are you planning to enable RSS feeds on the new forum?

Using RSS readers (synchronized with Google Reader) has been so far the best way I found to follow the Raspi forum (among a lot of other stuff), and it would be a pity losing it. Does anyone have a better alternative?

It was already an issue when the forum service changed last time, with the RSS feeds mixing poster and subject on the title text (which didn't allow me to group the posts by topics)

PS: OP in the beta forum, reposting here as I'm not sure anyone is reading that one

phpBB doesn't have RSS, it has ATOM feeds.

I expect we'll be enabling feeds (and you'd do me a big favour by adding a comment about the request under the relevant post on the blog - it's useful to have all this stuff in the same place), but it's quite near the bottom of the Great Big List of Stuff That Needs Doing. Do remind me in those comments - it'd be very helpful.

Atom feed would be very useful - it is the only way I can keep up.

I've already posted the request on both the recent blog posts. RSS seems to have become a generic term for feeds even when they are Atom (at least the BBC use it that way). It would be great if they could be moved up your list - it is pretty much the only way to keep on top of what is happening on the forums efficiently from work as it takes far too long to click through each of the new posts to read them in the forums.

RSS forum topic links are not getting updated. This means people that use news aggregators or RSS readers will miss updates to the topic they subscribed to :(

That looks like it is more or less working. Thank you.
Two minor comments:
1. You should probably uncheck the Item Statistics option - the author and time is present on the item anyway so I can't see what benefit it adds and looks confusing.
2. All the forum feeds have the same feed name (title=Raspberry Pi) rather than title=General discussions etc. I'm not sure where this value is coming from and how easy it is to change or not.

Can you also push up the number of items made available by Atom from 15 to ... say ... 50?
Reason - I read via Google Reader - which polls once every 3 hours - so I miss a lot.

I suspect that the Atom feed dried up overnight (4th-5th December UK) - possibly as a result of a redirect being put in place for
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/feed.php
to
http://www.raspberrypi.org/forum/feed.php

I canot be sure that this was the reason but Once I changed the source of the feed to the redirection destination then it started working again for me.
