Anyone in the US get a ship date from Newark (Element/14)

I'm in same boat as all of you.  This has been a long and painful wait.  My confirmation number is 160XXX but I'm up in Canada so it may take a little longer than the rest of you to get my unit.  I'm currently showing August 15 on my order.

Anyone out there with an earlier confirmation number ie 159XXX?

I'm also waiting to hear anything from Newark/Element14 beyond the two junkmails they've sent me.  I'm surprised I thought they would have at least notified me of the bump in the ship dates or warned about the various delays.

Hey GoSensGo, I'm a few places behind you in line, order # 162XXX, Date Order Was Placed : 29/02/12 9:25 AM. (That's EST.) Also in Canada. Let us know when you have a tracking number (or a RasPi!) so I can start getting excited.

Seems to me it will be a little while yet for us. But I'm pleased to see a lot more of them are in eager hands in the UK, EU, and perhaps soon over here in North America.

He didn't have the best grammar, if you couldn't understand what he said heres it in better grammar: "that is true [August ship date is wrong], you should see it in May at the latest June.

I ordered my Pi on launch day from export.farnell.com at '29/02/2012 07:08' which is in UTC so that makes it 2:08AM Eastern. My order number does not follow the same format as I have seen the rest of you posting, my order number is 164523xx which has more digits than the rest in this thread. I did not 'register interest' either rather I placed an order for one.

I received an 'Farnell Order Acknowledgement' email at 2:10AM and got an email containing a PDF invoice at 2:32PM Eastern that same day. I was quoted the same W/C 16/04/2012 ship date as the rest of you.

I am really confused now since k3v1nc said he already got an email saying his shipped even though I ordered hours before this and we both apparently live in Florida. I must be missing something here, did you order from the same site?

EDIT: The only 6 digit number I see on the order is a "Farnell Trade Account Number 965xxx" but that cant be right. When I go to my order history on the site, this being the only order I have placed with them, it says that the 'Purchase Order Number' is just the date and time and that the 'Farnell Reference Number' is the 164523xx number I mentioned. This wait might literally be killing me.

first of all congratulations on being one of the few to get one of the first batch.  Secondly I was kind of afraid this would happen.  My order was placed at 8 am est I had a 160xxx order number but my status still says aug after having orginally been mar 30th .  I wonder how they are prioritizing them?  Oh well I just have to be a little more patient.

Just for general information.  I placed my order with export.farnell.com at 8:02, based on subtracting your order number from mine there must have been about 3200 orders placed between 7:08 and 8:02.  So looks like I'll be waiting quite a while longer.

Interesting. If those were your options, what were the criteria you were using to select? "Very small computing devices creating media buzz?" Because it's not obvious what else they have in common. Sorry to be off-topic.

My RPi was just delivered by UPS here in Miami, Florida, USA. So at least some of the first batch of 2000 made it across the pond, and are being delivered. It's anyone's guess how they are determining the priority of who gets one from this initial batch, I'm just happy I was one of them. I guess it was worth waking up at 3am back in Feb.

Yeah, I'll join you on this off-topic rant. I hate to think how many people ordered one just because there was buzz about it and/or thinking they can make money by selling it on eBay.

Similar devices already exist, in mass quantities, and are in stock, and are ready to be delivered today. You can overnight a beagleboard, beaglebone, or any number of arm dev kits, sold by the same online store where you are frantically checking your order. Further, it will do even more than the Pi, but they cost a bit more as I'm sure you've noticed.

The whole point of the RPi was making it affordable, and that takes careful design, and then working through the manufacturing process to keep costs low, which takes time. Why do you think we see products at a trade show, and then they aren't in stores for 2-6 months... because the company didn't want to make money sooner? If anything the Raspberry Pi foundation has been more transparent than any for-profit corporation would have been about the process.

Another pet peeve of mine is that the Arduino and it's clones are better suited to some of the uses I've seen posted around the net. Some people are overly concerned with the limited ability of the GPIO pins, PWM, I2C, I2S, etc... it's silly, people, the Pi is not for every project. It's an Operating System based device, NOT a real-time micro controller where things can be strictly prioritized. The RPi is NOT a linux based arduino as some people are thinking of it. Arduinos are excellent for what they do. They cost about the same as the RPi, and you can order one of those and get it delivered next-day as well if you so desire.

My order at 162xxx shows a shipping date of 15 Aug 2012, a full day before yours. The ship date was changed to mid-July like Campsec's. But I waited a few hours before posting a "mine too" message, and by then it had switched back to showing mid-August.

Given how many delays we've seen with the first batch of 10k, I don't expect either distributor to give out less pessimistic dates, until after they've seen completely tested systems come off of their new spiffy assembly lines. Which means they may not update the ship date, until the week they are really ready to ship.

Mine is back to the Aug 15th date as well.  I think many of us will get units from the 8000 that were being reworked with new ethernet connectors.  So, I remain hopeful.  If not we are 1st up in front of about 200,000 other orders that have come in since Feb 29th.  I'm sure we will see our pie before the end of May, hopefully mid May.  Then the fun starts!  I am very envious of all the people that are already working with their R-Pi!  Cheers, keep your chin up!
