Camera to /dev ?

Thu Jun 06, 2013 7:38 pm

Hello

I've got the camera module on raspberry. Is there any way to get the camera in /dev like /dev/video ? or making a pipe of raspivid to a file ?

Thanks

There is no /dev/video driver yet, but you can pipe the output to stdout using -o - and pipe that to wherever you want.

e.g.

raspivid -t 3000 -o -

Of course, if you just want to write a file

raspivid -t 3000 -o nameoffile.h264
