Has anyone been able to access this?  Every time I try to connect it says site is down.  I guess the volume crashed Element14's site?

So far I'm not impressed with anything they've done to assist Raspberry Pi in distribution.

I was looking forward to seeing the webinar on programming!  SUX!!!!

I had to register at https://t.co/tUnGluuy

As soon as I registered there (using IE) I immediately got in (after a short install of WebEX)

Well I did put a post in another thread saying i could not access this. Now that post has vanished, but the thread is still there and I have looked elsewhere in case my post was moved.

I went out about 15:05 and did some shopping, when I came back a few minutes ago I looked again in the forum and twitter where solutions to the problem are given.

A bit late now mate.

As I said in my missing post I hope this is recorded and placed somewhere.

I've watched the whole thing with no trouble.

Good presentation Eben

He's running through Q & A at the moment but he hasn't answered my two questions yet…

I have screenshotted a few pages but they have said a recording will be available!

I really enjoyed the presentation. I lost the sound for a few minutes but I don't think I missed too much.

Yes. I lost the sound as well, towards the end. The main challenge was getting on at all. Whichever browser I used the site was not available. Eventually, a tweet from Element14 gave a URL that worked.

I'm a bit suspicious that the Debian image being discussed is not the same version that is on the download site. Apart from anything else, he gave the password as raspberry while the download version is suse. Also Fedora was not mentioned at all, unless it was when I had difficulty with the sound.

I didn't have a problem with the website. My problem was that firefox didn't want to load the add on for the webinar.  I had to download the .msi file separately and install it before I could get any further.

I did all this around 2.30 so I guess the hordes hadn't descended then.

I too enjoyed the webinar, although I think an early log in did help a bit, as I did have to download something first!

Even though our broadband download speed here is only about 1 Mb/s the video displayed fine, and the sound was clear, although as others have already mentioned I did 'lose' it a bit for a minute or so towards the end… but it came back again by itself.

It was actually my first 'webinar' experience, and I have to say I was very impressed, and would like to say 'well done' to all involved in its organisation, particularly Eben, who apparently was still in Cardiff at the time, rather than in Cambridge, as had been originally planned.

I had hoped that we might even see a 'guest appearance' from Liz (who I assume was also around?) but unfortunately this didn't happen!

Just for the record I was running Google Chrome under Windows 7.

I attempted to log on using the farnell supplied URL about 10 minutes before the start.

URl failed miserably on Chrome but IE was fine and auto installed the webex software OK.

Got straight in when s/w installed...

I logged on about ten minutes before it started - was unable to get the webex softwarere to load on Firefox, but MSIE was okay. I too lost sound just before the end, so that was probably a general hiccup at the source.

Interesting that Eben is still in Wales.

At least now I know what to do for the first hour after I get my 'Pi!

Thanks, Eben

Hopefully, there are more webinars in our future. This is a great way to reach the masses.

I also hope future ones include practice runs; a lot of us had trouble connecting on this one. I think the rule is, if you try something new, expect it to fail...

I registered and got right in about 5 minutes before they started (OSX Lion, Firefox)....

I have to say, judging by the questions I saw being posted+answered in the discussion, 99.9% of the people who are ordering this thing have NO CLUE WHATSOEVER what it is and what it can and can't do...

I'm actually really worried that when they start shipping people are going to get them and be highly disappointed and start complaining (when in reality it's their own darn fault for not doing just a LITTLE research before ordering.) EVERY question I saw posted was something that was either:

1) general linux stuff - (can it run a web server, can it run this can it run that?)

or

2) stuff that's been asked and answered in here 100x over, or is on the wiki or FAQ...

I just hope the disappointment by those people doesn't turn into a black eye for the RPF + RPi itself...

Thanks must also be given to 'DavisonIncorp' who actually uploaded the recording to YouTube, as it is not actually an 'official' release, which I am sure will come later, but is most welcome, nevertheless.

For those of us who don't have the patience to watch the video did he reveal any new information?

- JOE

- the location/existence of some python and c sample programs

- existence of the yellow connector confirms a board as 'production'

can't think of anything else

You didn't get to that part in the video where he offers a free Pi to anyone watching?

sshhhh don't tell him that!

I think I heard that there were about 4,000 people who watched the webcast - that would leave 6,000 left for the rest..

I think it was mentioned at the start of the event that about 2.800 people had pre registered, so it looks as if there were quite a lot of 'late arrivals'.

I am looking forward to being able to download the individual slides used in the presentation though.
