As you may know, I asked Element 14 and RS for a more detailed breakdown of pricing so that you guys can make an informed choice on where to shop, depending on where you live. That information (which is still a bit complicated, but should be useful) is now on the front page.

I'm on holiday at the moment, so I won't be *quite* as omnipresent here as usual for the next ten days or so, but hopefully you shouldn't notice too much of a difference.

Re. holiday: Fabulous! Have a great and well-deserved time off.

Re. pricing stuff: nice to see that both suppliers are paying attention and adapting to what must be a product quite unlike their normal fare in terms of demand and customer expectations.

Thanks for the update.

Hopefully this will keep some of the less patient pre-owners from griefing for a few days.

Thanks for the info, but it's not good news for me live in Korea.

Korea is the most expensive in the world.

70,050 KRW = £39.92 = US$62.51.

Very sad...

Any specific reason Farnell is quoting mainland EU prices in pounds? I know it's kind of odd, but us fools from the contintent haven't quite let go of the euro in favour of the GBP just yet. In all seriousness, having to deal with another exchange rate is a bit of a pain, especially as most card providers don't really give the best rates.

If you order from RS, you pay the same fixed price as everyone else, (plus taxes).

I"ll think about it. But Farnell already charged me even before 5~7 weeks dispatch.

Liz,

There has been a fair amount of discussion re the price in Australia. It seems to be $38 for the modelB, 3.80 gst/vat and $12 shipping for a total of A$54 or $US58 or thereabouts.

It has been mentioned that the foundation receives a royalty on each unit sold - fair enough.

Does the US$35 price include a margin for rs/farnell? in the end we all need to eat so they need to make some money somewhere.

If there is no margin allowed in the $35 then the $12 shipping charge would seem to cover more than shipping. if there is margin allowed then the shipping is a bit much.

having said all that... RS also says they have free shipping elsewhere on their web-site so a bit confused.

It does look like something odd is going on in those Aus prices.

Yes, there is margin for the distributors in the $35, in addition to the licence fee. I do NOT know what that margin is, I just know there is a little bit.

Hi Liz ( and Eben) - Enjoy the holiday! Hopefully the rest of the RPF team are also at least getting a bit of a breather.

Thanks for the pricing clarification - I'm just going to have to sit tight...

Cheers

Andy
