Well it should mean about 2pm for us on the west coast of Australia . Not a bad time I think. I will be interested to see how fast they sell. I hope I get one.

Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn......

Set your alarms for 6AM Wednesday forsooth!!!!

My alarm is ALWAYS set for 6AM (GMT) and it takes ages before the nurones start talking to each other; I'm usually only paying attention by time the Today programme is having its first canter through the morning papers!

Looksd like 5:30 is going to be needed on the 29th if I'm going to be in a fit state to comprehend whats going on.....

I'm just a bouncer, splatterers do it with more force.....

Me too, Jongoleur. It's generally 6:20 before I'm rational.

If it's the same one it will fail over at 05:50 from page refreshes from people hoping Liz's watch is a few minutes ahead.

Coffee maker set for 5:40am
Alarm set for 5:45am

Unfortunately tonight is my TV night (all good TV from 7:30pm to 11pm) and I have to work an extra 2 hours or so Wednesday night.
So I won't be too amused if it turns out it more sticker stock.

Either way for something as cool and as useful as the Raspberry Pi I think I can lose a few hours of sleep. Heck I work in a IT dungeon no-one would noticed if I had a little nap...

PS thanks for all the good work Liz, Eden and the gang. This project has so much potential for good its silly.

29 February - is this a joke?  The first birthday will be in four years time - so obsolescence will be a quarter of the usual rate for computer equipment?

Anyway good luck everybody.  (I'll see you in the second batch - there are far too many unfinished projects in my home at the moment...)

It's an interesting choice of way to do it, makes you wonder why (if it is just sales then the reasons don't stack up on their own)...at least it isn't a week of wondering.

I have my own theories on this, but I won't share them since they are all too wishful, that not all of them can be true.

However, unless Liz and Co have grown annoyed with the constant badgering and they just fancied getting their own back, I'll trust that it is worth waking up (they wouldn't be THAT mean would they???)!

[If it was this morning I would have been up in plenty of time (3am onwards...), thanks to the kids...I bet they sleep perfectly tonight!]

You'll be able to hear the joys of farming today! I miss the shipping forecast.

I'm a little too excited, I told the fiance (what a stupid word) that I would be getting up at 05:30 to buy a pi and she didn't bat an eyelid.

That is nuts there is 100k people on the mailing list alone, that means at least 75k people are going to be battling it out waiting at there computer as soon as the first 10,000 boards are released ... Hopefully the second batch wont take more than a few days to a week to start shipping.
And the second batch will have 65K people fighting over it, possibly more as the first buyers want their seconds and new people discover it. Hopefully the second batch will arrive quickly and be of a reasonable size to satisfy most demand.

Everyone has to recognise though that it's not easy setting batch sizes, juggling fulfilling demand versus having stock left on the shelves, and I'm glad I'm not making that decision. Some people may be disappointed even after the second batch but the situation should improve over time. I would expect most people wanting an R-Pi now will have one within 4 months, perhaps sooner. We'll all have a better idea when we see what future batch sizes are.

Insmonia is my friend!

I remember when the original eepc 7" lappy first came out here, It ended up with a trip to tottenham court road as there was a whisper there were a couple there.
I was over the moon when I got one, and I"m just as excited about the raspi, plus I don"t have to go to London to get one!

Typical. I'm always getting up before 6 every day to make the wife's breakfast, morning coffee and lunch, and this is the one day when I don't have to get up early.

Well, I do now I suppose.

I've worked it out!

The RPi will be sponsored by RedBall (or similar wake up product).

The RPi webpage will be a static advert for said product, saying "Tired? Buy our product", 100k hits in a matter of minutes...genius!

I've not heard anyone mention they have received an email. Liz said that it basically repeats what has been said on the front page.

I'm on the mailing list, but didn't get an email. Liz did say that it would take a while to send them all out.

It's only really necessary for people who haven't been on this website and need a reminder.

Liz said she got hers but I've not got mine. Luckily I visited the forum.

It's only going to be people who don't know, are relying on receiving the email and don't get it in good time, who are likely to have good cause to be peeved.
