Really interesting, but gets it a bit wrong on sales; you don't have to make any extra donations in order to buy a Raspberry Pi.

although adding a packet of hobnobs or nova lox to your order wouldn't hurt

It's in the paper version - until someone scans a copy we won't have it here. We're actually a bit pissed off with Wired; they were a nightmare to deal with (as well as wasting a huge amount of my, Rob's and Eben's time through refusing to grok that we simply DID NOT HAVE production units when they started talking to us last year, the journalist actually tried to trick us into agreeing to delay release until they'd got an article out by saying his editor had signed some sort of agreement with the trustees!) and we specifically asked them not to do a couple of things they'd suggested. Namely trying to reverse-engineer our BOM, which opens us up to all kinds of stress with our suppliers, who don't want their other customers saying "But you gave Raspberry Pi the same thing for $n" - and photoshopping a case onto an alpha board, which is just downright misleading. In the end, the article is a couple of columns at the edge of a page - where they try to reverse-engineer our BOM and show a photoshopped alpha board.

They're off the list for press samples, and I don't think we'll be giving them any more interviews.

Not a news article or blog post about Raspberry Pi. but the "Next Month" section of Linux Format has, at the top of the forthcoming attractions, a blooming great Raspberry Pi logo against a background of the Model B board and the breathless promise "Raspberry Pi is here.  We uncover the story behind this year's most hotly anticipated release (and we don't mean the iPhone 5)."

So there you go.

Eeek!

Edit:  "LXF 156 will be on sale Thursday 1st March"

That did cross my mind.

Dunno, but there may be (I suppose) a slew of NDAs and so on floating about between the Foundation and various interested bodies, dependent on the Nod. There may be a sequence of Nods, and we've seen the result of the first, like the news about kernel sources, libraries and codecs that have appeared on the front page blog.

We'll just have to wait and see, and try not to turn blue holding our breath!  We're living in interesting times.......

Yikes, I'm always saddened when journalists go for the lowest common denominator, I mean there's enough amazing things in the world without having the make stuff up.  This goes double for the r-pi, it's quite amazing as it is without having to screw over the people who are making it!

Has anyone considered turning some of these potentially iconic pictures (rephotographing if appropriate) into promotional pictures for the Raspberry Pi which could be downloaded at launch time (and printed over lunchtime) .. especially for those you fail to get theirs in the first batch?

The picture of the 2 ICs on the finger as "The heart of the Raspberry Pi" (Any well -known heart surgons on the reading list?)

and the Model B as the new model T or the new Interest Free ?X? Credit Card / the one you can afford the interest on???

As to whether the Raspberry Pi is available as a "kit"; depends rather on your interpretation of english, and the colloquial use of "kit".  It"s a lovely bit of kit; and to save you (and the .org) problems, its supplied to you in working order ! -but not in a case (Yet)

There is still a "kit" element in that the user will have the choice of add-ons – and having to solder connectors to the Gerboard, and to wrap in in an enclosure … until the aftermarket catches up with "pre-made" case-"kits"  (sprayable to any colour including pink … select your colour from Halfords Paint Car Range … which colours best match a ripe raspberry?

And maybe I"m missing something; but provided one is given all the necessary access-points to draw what images I want on the screen, via any supported language [BASIC, Logo - Turtles or whatever] I choose to run; since I"m talking to a specific piece of proprietory hardware, I see no reason to have to know the internal workings of their code from which they are making a living – and which form an integral-harmony with their hardware solution; but would be grateful for guidance of limitation, so as to keep within spec.  The chips are maintenance-free? – they don"t require an oil-change every 3,000 instructions do they??
