You'll be looking to set up a VNC server on your Raspberry Pi and a VNC client on your Windows desktop.

There are plenty of tutorials covering how to achieve this. This one is good :-)

Hi
I'm running
Vinagre is a remote desktop viewer for the GNOME desktop 3.2.1
on Fedora 14 (?) on an asus thing 10" over wifi on a private lan
(pretty usual home wifi to cable ISP)

And ...
tightvncserver on a model b 2 512 raspian wheezy headless
either
connect to default :1 Xwindow session
or
vncserver :2 -geometry 1024x728 -depth 24

And it's easy to use Chrome on the asus to post this.
Any hints?
I'm trying all sorts of stuff in other windows devices so I'll post what I find out here.

You could also try X forwarding :

Code: Select all

ssh pi@IP-OF-YOUR-RASPI
pcmanfm&

If you are connecting to the Pi via a Windows machine this may work well for you.

Just like to echo what yakko said

sudo apt-get install xrdp

wait till it finishes, and it has started the RDP server on the Raspberry Pi. Type "ifconfig" on the Pi to find the Pi's IP address (shown in the "eth0" section not the "lo" section)

Just run the Remote Desktop on the windows machine and use the Pi's IP address - login and you're up and running

I think you forgot to add the -X option?

Thanks !
The correct command looks like this :

Code: Select all

ssh -X pi@IP-OF-YOUR-RASPI
pcmanfm&
