One B for certain, possibly two if the wife will let me. If it's released close to Dec 2nd, that's my birthday and hence, much more likely for SheWhoMustBeObeyed to allow me to get 2 of them... Besides, if I can push 1080P to one without any issues, I'm sure that one will end up in the living room connected to the bigscreen.

Now, to find an inexpensive LCD monitor with HDMI input!

Model B I think. I don't need Ethernet but I think the 256MB RAM would be useful because I plan to use it for streaming videos from my PC to the TV. One Device first because I want to see how it works for me. If there will be a "give one get one" program I will donate one.
Well, I hope I will be able to get one without having a credit card.

I would order one Model A for a present as the person does not need to use eithernet and one model B for myself as i do use eithernet.

If they work out well and are easy and fun to use I was thinking of getting more for my friends as presents but will just start with 2 for now.

Edit: Sorry just checked out the wiki page and say the difference between the model a and model b is more than just an eithernet conection but double the memory and one more usb slot so it will be two model b's for me :)

The sum above is also what people say they will initially buy. They are prepared to buy more if happy.

Two, maybe four of the ModBs. One each in my vehicles, two for tinkering with whatever comes to mind.

I am completely blown away by the amount of people who are going to jump right in and buy more than one. Personally ill by one model b and see how I go from there. However i have been raving about this product to anyone who will listen so don’t forget that all important snow ball effect.

I'll most likely be buying two model b Raspberry Pis, because I told my cousin I would buy him one for his birthday. I hope they don't go out of stock within a day.

I would get a model b and then buy a teensy usb board. Chirstmas is coming and this would be perfect for setting up a light show.

At the moment I want about 3, I think. One as a very basic file server; this may even get buried in a mini-bunker in the garden! Another as a micro HTPC as I am hoping BBC iPlayer and 4OD work with RPi without too many problems. And one to hook up to my Mega ST which using a VT100 terminal emulator cartridge would become a permanent command line box for IRC, RSS, Brandy, etc.

I would sure bet multiples are going to be the norm rather than the exception!

I don't know how many people on this discussion might be familiar with WOOT! It's a web site which offers 'one deal, one day'. They present an "in for 1", "in for 2" or "in for 3" sales model!

As a very happy user of 3 Beagleboards, 2 FSL i.MX53's and 9 ZipIt Z2's, the Model B is going to be my Next Big Thing - and in bulk. I can see the Model B as a viable alternative to yet another VMware Linux image on my overwhelmed workstation for networking applications.

I hope production and sourcing can keep up with the pent up demand!

Probably 1 or 2 of each to start off with, then a couple more if I really like them. These seem like the hacker's friend, and I suspect I'm going to end up breaking a ton of them. XD

Probably two of them. One of them would be used to create NAS/Home server. This should have my external HDDs connected and of course my printer. Maybe it would be worth making it as wireless access point. And the other one would be more for the testing and playing around. Probably something related to Web of Things.

I am also quite interested into GPU and it's capabilities, but I am not sure that will be open in R-P.

I'm surely gonna buy 1 Model B, and if it's not enough for what I need, I think I'll get another 1

I'm up for at least 3 initially. 2 Bs and an A. Speaking with a friend today, I may well be up for a bulkish order of a hundred or so later, possibly all As, but might be better if half or so were Bs.

One. But, it wouldn't hurt my wallet buying another one.

Quote from max1zzz on September 25, 2011, 21:54i [sic] believe there [sic] gonna [sic] put a cap on how meany [sic] you can buy at once (so everyone can get one)What makes you say that? If the goal of the organisation is to get as many into kids hands as possible, is it not in their interest to sell as many of the first batch as possible as quickly as possible - this would (assuming that there is some profit in the units) result in a stack of cash which would be used to place a larger order for the second batch. The sooner the second batch is received, the faster the units get into the kids hands.

Also, consider that for the first batch, the packing, labeling and posting is likely to take more time (given that it's not been done before and the pitfalls have not been discovered yet), so the fewer boxes posted, the better, surely?

Anyway, enough of that, I'm likely to order three Model B units.

I'd certainly want one model B to start with for me to get to grips with, depending on availability and shipping I might go for a pair of Bs.
Assuming it does the jobs I'm looking at home server (running an email, web server and possibly replacing my current RAIDed NAS drive) and media streamer - then I'll probably be ordering a dozen or so more for my family and friends!
