Hi,

What sort of windowing systems would you be supporting directly?

e.g. DirectFB, Enlightenment, X11, etc.

Thanks.

DirectFB and X11 for starters. We'll see what we can get going in the way of window managers.

Thanks.

I was hoping for Enlightenment, but DirectFB is ok too :)

Enlightenment is meant to work on ARM 11 cores, so it would be interesting if the libraries work straight off the bat or need some tweaking.

How mature is the OpenGL ES2.0 support?

Thanks.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like there's some jumbled up terminology here. X11 and DirectFB aren't exactly window managers, they just provide the necessary API. Enlightenment, OpenBox, Metacity and so on are window managers. So if all the necessary drivers are provided (and it seems like they are), then there should be absolutely no problem installing whatever windows manager or desktop environment you want.

Or am I misinterpreting the whole point of this thread?

I'm thinking I'd start with LXDE (which uses the Openbox window manager) on the Debian system, but once I can install Arch/ARM, I'd like to install Fluxbox (which I use with Arch/x86 on my Eee 701SD). Hope it's an option...
