Does anyone know how a pi 4 benchmarks against an iphone 8 in terms of computing power? Just curious.

iphone 8 has a speedometer 2 result of 80

overclocked pi 4 gets a result of 21

the bionic chips in the iphone are overpowered for what they are used for, unless playing a 3d game.

at some point someone will make a pi sized motherboard with one of the newer snapdragon arm chips, then it will be good bye intel / amd and full sized pcs.

Don't count on it unless MS releases a version of Windows that will run on it. I should point out that people have been predicting the utter demise of mainframes for decades, yet mainframes are still being made and sold. Likewise, PCs will probably be with us well beyond the foreseeable future.

In or out?

What resolution?

What codec?

What bit rate?

The browser makes a big difference as well. Testing with Chrome on my Android phone scores 38.2, while Naked Browser Pro scores 67.3!

For comparable results you need to use comparable browsers. Chromium on the Pi is a full desktop browser. Phones run feature reduced mobile browsers, so it's hard to make a direct comparison (Android Chrome browser is not the same as Chrome/Chromium on a PC).

On the other hand, if you don't use a lot of browser plugins or extensions, and all you want is results...
