When does Amazon recieve the new Raspberry Pi's?

Wed Jul 10, 2019 11:08 pm

I was curious how long it usually takes Amazon to start listing the new Raspberry Pi's after they launched. Same question applies to the official accessories.

Thanks!

As far as I know, Amazon is not an official Pi reseller.

So any Pis that show up there will be from 3rd party sellers.

Not necessarily anything wrong with that, just sayin’.

Amazon do seem to sell the raspberry pi directly, though they usually seem to get undercut by third party sellers on their platform and they don't seem to have stock of Pi4s right now.

Curious that that listing states that it cannot be shipped to the U.S.

It may be that Amazon UK received an initial shipment of RPi 4s at launch. After that supply ran out they may have been unable to get any more.

I doubt you will see any reseller selling RPi 4s on Amazon until the official reseller backlog is alleviated. There is just not enough supply available to do otherwise. I expect the official resellers have been given exclusive rights to receive stock now until the demand has subsided.

Last year CanaKit starting selling the RPi 3B+ on Amazon within a couple weeks after they started selling it directly. Back then CanaKit fulfilled any orders placed on Amazon themselves. I see they have changed to letting Amazon fulfill orders made on Amazon.

Note Fulfilled by Amazon means that third party sellers let Amazon warehouse and ship items for them.

Amazon are not a reseller, their conditions were not suitable for the Pi sales model. So all Pi stuff will be third party.

Most of it, yes. But they also sell Pi themselves: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07 ... 1OLE&psc=1
Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.
I assume they just buy from Element14 as other (non-official) resellers would do.

That looks like a 3RD party reseller

Just to clear up some confusion, "fulfilled by Amazon" does not mean Amazon sold the product to you.

Nope, you're looking in the wrong place. the 'by' entry is *not* the seller. Look for the text I quoted. Also if you look in the complete list with sellers (through link 'other sellers') you will see the entry for the one sold by amazon,co.uk.

So it's not just 'fulfilled by Amazon'

If Amazon buy from Farnell or RS then they are just a normal customer, reselling on.

We don't have any distribution agreement with Amazon directly.

fruitoftheloom, that link isn't a seller, its a "brand"

Also, by following said link, I found these...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Raspberry-Pi-M ... 2323029031
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Raspberry-Pi-M ... 2323029031
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Raspberry-Pi-M ... 2323029031
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Raspberry-Pi-M ... B07TGBPDTZ
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Raspberry-Pi-M ... B07TJHY5TW
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Raspberry-Pi-U ... 2323029031

There are more, I could link, but at this point, I think the OP has enough options to choose from.

The title states when does Amazon receive the new Raspberry Pi, it does not as they are not a reseller themselves, all being sold are from 3rd party sellers....

Semantics !

Scroll down to the "other sellers on amazon" section on many of those links and you find amazon themselves, but the listings from amazon themselves say "usually within 1-2 months".

This was the best deal I found on a raspberry pi 4, 2GB kit this morning from Canakit and I should have it by Monday (4 days).

Canakit, Element14 and RS all sell on Amazon, but that's fulfilled by Amazon and not purchased from Amazon. Some 3rd parties use Amazon fulfillment services, which offers some of the benefits (like free Prime shipping) but you are buying from a 3rd party and not Amazon directly. Considering how hard they are to find, and how far demand is exceeding supply, I would not expect to see any on Amazon for quite awhile (not for immediate shipment, anyway).

If you want a 2GB Pi 4B now, PiShop.us still has them in stock, and they ship fast (I ordered mine on the 4th and it was shipped on the 5th).

If you want a 1GB, Pimoroni has them. They're in the UK, but shipping is reasonable, and they don't ream you for VAT like PiHut does.

If you want a 4GB model ... learn to live with disappointment. Image
