PI2B headless with Raspbian Buster - installation with WiFi

Fri Jul 05, 2019 9:22 pm

I would like to know if I can get the a headless RPi2B+ installed using the Raspbian Buster image without wired network available?
The RPi2B box will be recommissioned as an OpenVPN server and will use wired Ethernet on the target system, but when I am setting up the box I don't have the ability to use wired Ethernet. The unit has an Edimax WiFi adapter, which has worked fine in its earlier life. So what I would like to know is if Buster is smnart enough to recognize this adapter and connect to WiFi using the instructions I got for my new RPi4B today?
These instructions worked just fine on the RPi4, but it has built-in WiFi, which the RPi2B+ does not...

Sorry for the noise!
Turns out that the Edimax adapter is recognized and the RPi2B connects just fine to the WiFi upon first installation after fixing the two files in the boot section of the SD-card as described in the linked to thread.
"Just test it" is the command to use....
PS: I used the Buster Lite version for this box. DS
