Quectel EC 25 / 21 drivers ?

Fri Apr 05, 2019 12:13 am

What ? I have to make the driver myself (following theyr guide) and recompile the kernel ??? :?
I read something about linux support (usb/mpcie) and I thought they were included ! ...or easyer to install

Maybe in raspbian it works out of the box ?
The drivers are needed just for the internet or for everything ?
The drivers are needed jus with usb adapter or also when in the mpcie slot ?

Thanks.

Took a quick read of the EC21 install doc; it clearly indicates that the driver must be compiled by the end user, in order to install the driver(s).

BTW, the Pi does not have a mPCIe port.

EDIT: driver (not kernel) requires recompilation.

This might shed some light:

I looked at this modem a while back, but went with another (U620L from Verizon (US)) due to support concerns.

Really ? I've seen a section to make the kernel module but it says its for desktop pc, not sure what they mean...
I want to use a mpcie to usb adapter...

@Ipsw
Thanks, as I understand it should be supported.
I want to use this because its linux based, in theory...

driver (not kernel) requires recompilation.
So You mean the first method or the kernel module chapter ?

This is what I used in my decision on what I wanted to use in my application.
Sorry I don't have time to google to see if there is more recent info. Maybe you can do that.

PS See 3.3.4 and 3.3.5

I dont understand what methods do what, which are alternatives and which are optional, and if I can skip all that using raspbian.
