Kodi Edition Raspberry Pi Case (v2) VS FLIRC Raspberry Pi Case

Kodi Edition Raspberry Pi Case (v2) VS] FLIRC Raspberry Pi Case

Does anyone have any idea what the difference is between these two cases? The Kodi one is later but I can't see what improvements there are....

Thanks

The Kodi Edition was the first generation case that was designed for the Pi 2B, and is not really compatible with the Pi 3B models (you can't see the LEDs, and the micro SD card is difficult to remove). I'm not aware of a V2 Kodi case (if there's a newer model can you post a link).

The Flirc generation 2 case is designed for the newer Pi 3B and 3B+ models. It allows viewing the LED indicators, and has a slot for access to the micro SD card. I use the Gen2 case for most of my Pi3B(+) computers. It keeps them running (and looking) very cool.
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?

That does look like the Flirc Gen2 case.

However, they don't mention 3B+ compatibility, so I'm guessing it only includes the thicker thermal pad for the older 3B model. The Flirc Gen2 case also includes a thinner thermal pad for the newer 3B+ model.

It's definately compatitable with the 3B+. There's a compability note on the ist page ....half way up the page on the right. No idea what the differences are between the two though....

Other than the little green box by the price there's no mention of the 3B+ and only a single thermal pad is indicated. If that's just an oversight in the description, then it's exactly the same case as the Flirc Gen2, except it's black and the top snap on plastic decorative panel has the Kodi logo. If you think that's worth an extra £3 then get the Kodi case.

The standard Fllrc Gen2 case is a matte silver/aluminum color with a flat black top panel and includes 2 thermal pads (picture in my previous post above is what I received when I ordered a new 3B+ and Flirc Gen2 case).

That plastic top panel easily snaps off and on with the case open, so it could be decorated in a variety of ways.

Cheeky of them really. They make it sound like they've improve dit but one of the authorised sellers tells me it just has the kodi branding... that's it... Maybe there are wrong but they seemed certain.

Maybe they worked with the person who designs the FLIRC case and brought that design out.
Though it is an improvement over the original KODI case.
I would guess/assume/anyone know the extra money over the FLIRCv2 is the money for charity ?

The Kodi branding, along with the new aesthetics could be considered an improvement, depending on your taste.

While the description on the Kodi product page wreaks of marketing-speak, nowhere did they claim improved performance over the Gen2 Flirc. They simply state the design improvements associated with the Gen2 Flirc, and focus on the new aesthetics. Personally, I'm not a fan of that Kodi logo top plate, but the black with polished edge does look nice.

@jonnyb,
The plastic top plate is easily removed when the case is open (4 push tabs). You could then decorate it as you please with paint, vinyl or stickers (or if you have access to a 3D printer, a new plate could be made). You can see 2 of the lock tabs in my picture of the open case above.
