I'm Gary, AKA Psychaotix, a 25 year old lad who lives in the wonderful Barossa Valley, South Australia. So far, I've been just playing with the Pi to see how it goes (Not to mention demo-ing it to my workmates who are decidedly impressed that a full computer can be crammed into something so tiny) and generally working out what to do with it.
Right now, it's seeing duty as a fileserver, so I've got a place to cram all my files when I'm bored! Next up is a wipe and a reinstall, this time to turn it into a temperature sensing beast, complete with long wire food grade sensor. As it's likely to be mounted away from power for a while, I'm also working on a custom power supply, with a 12v AGM battery as the heart. From there, it'll break down into both regulated 12v for any accessories and regulated 5v for the Pi. Combining that with one of the Pi-point type builds, linked to a 3G dongle, and I should have quite a nice remote temperature sensor to use.
Another thing I like about the Pi is that it's designed for experimenters, right from school age up. Makes it fun to have something that you can't destroy in the normal course of duty, well, nothing that a re-flashed SD card won't fix...
It's worth noting that I have next to no skills in Linux, or any of the coding languages, but hey, what better time to learn? You might see me on the forums here and there, but I'm more the person to read, learn and then implement what I see.
