Farnell: ordering multiple items with a RasPi

Tue Oct 16, 2012 10:02 am

It's possible for someone like me, living in Italy, to order a Raspberry Pi and in the same order put other related items? I don't have a VAT number, so when I try to order the Pi I can't add other items to the basket. I could make two orders, but this mean twice the postage, and if the other items are say, a SD card and a power supply is a sure mode to lose these sales, because one could buy them on Amazon or from the the Canon dealer two blocks away.

Maybe there is a mode to make a multi item order and I haven't found it, so I'm asking.

I have seen this question before I am in the US so I hope I got this right but this page should show how.

http://it.farnell.com/jsp/bespoke/bespo ... &nav=false

It is very different than any site I shop at they usually just put it all in one place.

You could try adding the Raspberry Pi order code ( 2191863) to the shopping basket, as if you were raising a standard order, and adding the other items you require. I just tried it and it worked for me, but I am in the UK and have an account with them. No VAT number, though.

AIUI farnell have some legal issues selling from their regular sites to SOME parts of europe and as a result built a seperate Pi site. However users are directed to that Pi site even from countries where farnell has no such problem selling to individuals through their normal site.

If you have ordered successfully from farnell before I would just ignore what the site says, click on the "buisness" button and submit your order as normal.

So far I've found it impossible to order from Farnell, I would like to order 4, plus cases and power supplies and have them shipped to Germany where I currently reside, not so difficult you would imagine. However, I can't order from my UK account because they won't deliver to Germany, I can't order more than one Raspberry Pi or any accessories from the Farnell Rasberry Pi website, I can't use my UK credentials to log on to the German site and nor can I create an account because I'm not a business! I mailed Farnell's sales team who never bothered to reply.

Farnell could learn a lot from companies like Amazon that actually make it easy to spend your money with them, in the meantime I'm stuck!

Unfortunately I got a letter from Farnell today asking for proof that I'm trade and redirecting me their stupid Raspberry Pi micro-site from where it is only possible to buy one Pi and no accessories. Back to square one!

I suppose that both RS and Farnell are willing to do business with everyone.
I've ordered a bunch of items from RS Italy without any problem. When I tried to order from them some accessories for the Pi, and mind you one of the accessories was a microUSB power supply, they accepted the order, but the next day, and sent me a letter saying that they can't sell to me the items, and redirected me to http://raspberrypi.rsdelivers.com/

By the way the SD card I received is this:
http://it.rs-online.com/web/p/memorie-flash/7582571/
The one in the Pi side is different with a different catalog id:
http://raspberrypi.rsdelivers.com/produ ... 14141.aspx

Maybe there's some oddball regulation or trade contract we don't know.

It works also on the itlaian site, but I suppose that even if it's possible to insert the item, the item can't be actually delivered.

Well unfortunately it definitely doesn't work in Germany, Farnell will not ship to me as an individual, not even as a freelancer with a VAT number. I really hope the foundation find another way to retail Pis without using these useless companies, in the meantime I will have to order my Pis from the UK and collect them next time I'm home or have them shipped here.
