I was just wondering if the beta boards have been built and are undergoing testing yet?

Also if they have/are would it be possible for a photo?

They\'re still going through production - a week would be staggeringly (and expensively) fast for the first manufacture of a PCB this complicated. And of *course*, as soon as they\'re ready there will be pictures. (I love the idea that you\'re imagining me in possession of pics, but twiddling my thumbs and thinking \"Nah. The community won\'t want to see these with any urgency.\")

While you are sitting in raspberrypi towers, stroking mooncake on your lap and laughing \"Bwahahahahhahahahahahahahhaha they shall wait\"

What with the WiFi dongle spammer earlier this morning (our first ever banhammer exercise, which saddened me) and the (I think) well-intentioned guy who doesn\'t understand why I don\'t want him selling Raspberry Pi t-shirts, this forum is doing my blood pressure no good at all today. It\'s enough to make a girl take to daytime gin.

I think I\'ll start reading the Reg again...another superb article.

I can see why my parents opted for a ZX Spectrum now (at least now they can see it was worth it though)!

Can\'t stand the stuff; you know that first time you make yourself really, really ill with booze as a teenager? My own night rolling in my own filth was all down to Mr Jack Daniels. I haven\'t been able to so much as sniff the stuff since without feeling ill.

HAHA, fair enough... Plus shipping it from the US would be more than a little complicated due to customs...

My mother used to send me bottles of scotch from the scottish isles to the usa in the in the commemorative and funny shaped bottles because for some reason customs seemed to leave them alone :)

Blimey, let Sainsbury\'s import it and just visit your local store with 16 quid. Or whatever your local supermarket is :)

I have that same trouble with Southern Comfort. Not the greatest drink in the first place, but my mate and I got \'hooked\' on it during our teens. I got real sick on the stuff and now it just reminds me of hairspray and vomit.

Those 100 boards, are they model A or B? Or mixed?

I believe they said model B. Model A/B are traced out the same, so testing model B will, by it\'s very nature, be the same as testing model A. On the flip side, however, testing model A will not be equivalent to testing model B as it lacks the expanded memory, the additional USB port and (most importantly here) the LAN9512 chip (and ethernet)

Mixed, actually! We won\'t be making the same number of each, because we anticipate Bs being much more popular so we\'ll be weighting very heavily towards them.

The mock up was in the possession of Jack Lang (one of the trustees) at the time, he was attending the SVc2UK event. The images have been screen grabbed from this video:

[Edit: correction, its a mock up, see follow-up by Jack, below]

Daniel (a fellow PhD student here at the lab who\'s also been contributing to the project) mocked it up with the laser cutter. It\'s just a visual aid, and in that iteration the acrylic is rather too thick. I would have guessed any official case would be injection molded (for cost reasons) but I\'m far outside my areas of expertise there.
