Just out of interest - why don't you want to use Linux?

Windows 10 IoT Core is NOT a Desktop Operating System, it is a development platform and the only natively supported version of Microsoft operating System.

Libre Office is included in Raspbian Jessie Linux and has good compatibility with .xls & .xlsx format of Microsoft Office Excel.

If you want Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating System, then unfortunately you have bought the wrong single Board Computer, you need a x86 CPU variant ie Jaguar or UP.

If you don't want to run Linux on your Pi you could always look at RiscOS, but that also won't run Excel or other Windows apps.

There's no version of Windows for Raspberry Pi.
Personally I would use Linux as its 'Nearly Always' free from backdoors.
You should try out raspbian Linux.
And use either libreoffice or OpenOffice.
LibreOffice I believe is faster.

LibreOffice is a fork of OpenOffice that was done after Oracle acquired Sun. OpenOffice was written at Sun. For an end user, they are functionally identical.

And Open Office was originally Star Office, written in Germany.

I know libreoffice is a fork but currently I think libreoffice is more stable on raspbian.

Re: Install OpenOffice in Jessie

I have installed Jessie in to all my Pi's, I am currently trying to put together a map printing computer, which is small fast, and durable. We use Word to create the maps, they are stored on our server as read only doc.s
OpenOffice opens the maps without error, LibreOffice takes a one page map and creates a three page document with instructions on one page and the desired map on page two and the third page is blank. I installed LibreOffice 5 on my windows PC and it still does not open the map.doc correctly. OpenOffice has no problems opening and sending the map to the printer.
Could you give the RaspberryPi users the option to choose which Office Suite they want to use?

If you have a MS Account could you not use the Office Web Browser version ???

Regards OpenOffice, Raspbian Jessie follows Debian Jessie.

Though OpenOffice 3.4 was in the end of life Debian Wheezy.

I thought the OpenOffice project is pretty much dead by now ?
LibreOffice got all the developers , it seems only logical
that it is the only supported version.

• Don't like the board ? Missing features ? Change to the prosilver theme ! You can find it in your settings.
• Don't like to search the forum BEFORE posting 'cos it's useless ? Try googling : yoursearchtermshere site:raspberrypi.org

So the Microsoft Surface (with the ARM CPU) running WindowsRT never had Office ??

That is weird because the one I used had "Office 2013 Home & Student RT" included

AFAIK Windows for ARM was discontinued ages ago. As were the machines it ran on.

Otherwise, where is this ARM version of Office available from?

Yes WindowsRT had a last gasp update a year ago then quietly forgotten

I was answering the question that stated no "Office for ARM"

...and as it was an embedded version it has no download candidate :(
