Best way to Power a Pi3 without USB?

Hallo,

Where is the best place to supplied a Rpi 3 with power, when i not use the micro USB?
Over the GPIO or solder parallel to D5?

you can power the pi via GPIO by connecting to the +5v and the grnd pins, BUT this can be risky as it bypasses the pi safety fuse.

Solder +5V to test pad PP1 or PP2 or to fuse pad closest to the edge of the board. Any of these 3 points are before the fuse ....same as using micro USB. (D5 or GPIO is after the fuse).

For Ground I would use any of the port shield hold down tabs on the bottom of the board. RJ45..HDMI etc.

They are labeled on the back side of the board under the micro usb input.
