Crazy colored graphics in desktop raspbian after LCD install

Thu May 05, 2016 7:47 am

I've got super portable compact Pi 3 going and decided to install the LCD drivers.

I followed the waveshare wiki but now when it goes to desktop mode the colors are weird and the graphics aren't solid looking.

Which model display? searching this forum brings up 771 instances of waveshare - maybe an answer is already available?

Any body have any clues?

I installed FBCP today and tried to startx but that doesn't work while fbcp is running. I've also tried my 3.5 inch screen and it gets the same issue.

On the other stuff i believe your right but when i first started this thread some weeks ago i wasnt using the auxiliary battery supply i was using the micro USB with a brand new cable.

Besides it happens whether its getting juice from the micro-usb or the auxiliary power supply.

It actually started after the 02-18-16 raspbian jessie update.

I don't think you have taken in the fact that the Pi3 uses more power than the Pi2. Stuff that worked with the Pi2 might still give problems on the Pi3. Have you measured the 5V line voltage on the board? Is the power light flickering? Is your PSU and cable capable of 2.5A and maintaining 5V at the Pi? As I said before, don't waste time looking for other problems until you have eliminated power issues.

Reading your other thread - totally a power supply issue. PLEASE try a proper 2.5A supply and a proper cable before starting any more threads.
