Motioneyeos not working on Pi 3

Thu Mar 24, 2016 4:08 am

Just got my sparkly new Raspi 3. Moved the working Motioeyeos SD card from my Raspi 2 to the 3, and all I get is a colourful square on the screen. Moved the card back to the 2 and all worked fine. Back to the 3 - pretty square again.

Any ideas?

I've downloaded Raspbian (Wheezy or Jessie - I forget ) and that works fine on the 3, but oh the drama to stream video, hence the desire to use Motioeyeos.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Yeah that is pretty much expected as firmware updates are required when running a Pi3 over a pi2 image. I've no idea what 'Motioeyeos' is, but I suggest you contact them and ask if there is a pi3 compatible updated image.

In the old post (for example not being able to boot pwnpi image on pi2 , as pwnpi was made for Pi-B) that you could manually download latest Pi firmware files and put it in the correct folders on your SD card.

Is that not a option?

This is an old thread but for the benefit of Google visitors I'll add this ..

MotionEyeOS supports all the Pi models but you my need a specific image for that model. Here is a list of supported boards with a link to the image file you need :

It's so easy to setup if you change Pi model you are probably best just using a fresh SD card and re-configuring it.
