Thanks for this. I'll patch the deb.

What happens if you do both?

I'll look into it when I have time. I didn't test it with other packages, could you name the ones which are having trouble? You may have have to update those to jessie as well.

Try again. When trying to download packages right when it is updating can result in some things not found. I just tried it and it worked.

W: Failed to fetch http://dl.bintray.com/kusti8/chromium-r ... f/Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 5.153.35.248 80]

I tried it a few times kusti8. I got this error with that IP address rather than the 159.x.x.x one

EDIT: working on fifth attempt

That's weird. I just did a apt-get update and it worked fine. Try waiting five minutes and try again. When I go to http://dl.bintray.com/kusti8/chromium-r ... ary-armhf/ I can find Packages.

Edit: Just saw your edit, nice.

Well basically I copy and pasted the code into terminal, and after a while it just stays on 'Unpacking nodered (0.13.4-1) over (0.13.4) ...' any ideas on how to work it?

That's a problem with apt and not Chromium at all, but:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get purge nodered
Should fix it.

kusti8,

The sudo apt-get update/sudo apt-get dist-upgrade thing has completed fine here. I have no chance to test the resulting installation as I have no screen attached just now.

Thanks for the tremendous effort.

I am going to preface this by saying I am very new to this.

I am trying to install Chromium in OctoPi in order to use TouchUI on a touchscreen through the Raspberry Pi. I am using a guide created by BillyBlaze that references your article in order to install Chromium.

No matter how I type it, I cannot get the second command...

sudo apt-key add -echo "deb http://dl.bintray.com/kusti8/chromium-rpi jessie main"

...to do anything. It is giving me a "conflicting commands" error.

The command before creates a ton of seemingly random characters. Is that what it's supposed to do?

Thanks for your help!

You're mixing up the commands. They are there in a specific order with different lines for a reason. Just copy and paste it into the terminal and it will all work. Now I would check that you don't have anything weird in sources.list:
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Wow. I feel like an idiot now. I thought "|" meant a new line. Like a said, I'm new to this.

Thanks again! Worked perfectly

After browsing the web for a few days on it (v50), I must say it eats a ton of RAM up. 3 tabs of the forums struggle to stay responsive. I do have 256 MB of RAM set for the GPU, so that may affect it...

Well that's webpages and webbrowsers for you. 256 MB is a lot though , you don't really need that much.

Considering that Chromium 50 is running on a PC the size of my wallet (a bit thinner than my wallet fortunately) I am not too concerned about lagginess. I appreciate all the time you have poured into this!

I had problems with version 49 and 256mb GPU ram as well, since I lowered that to 128mb it isn't as worse.

Also thanks a lot for your work kusti8, really appreciate it. Only got my Pi3 like 2 weeks ago as a temporary desktop replacement and in my opinion it's just amazing that I can even watch YouTube in fullscreen* on this small thing.

*Well it doesn't work for every video, mostly older ones being a problem, but I guess that's due to missing codecs?

Did you add a space? Can you paste the file?
