....as well as Youtube !!mikerr wrote:My phone is always near my hand,
So using that to start is no disadvantage.
In fact it's like everybody having a remote
(We all have mobile phones - so anyone can start a film/show/youtube clip on the big screen)
Also it's not quite like airplay as you can turn the phone off after starting.
Works well for us, and does netflix which rpi doesn't. ..
I don't have a mobile phone, I don't want a mobile phone. I have no need for a mobile phone.mikerr wrote:

I do have a mobile phone, but it won't work with any sort of remote device. (As I tell people...I don't have a smart phone. I have a dumb phone. It's useful for making phone calls.) And I don't keep it on my person at home.mikerr wrote: In fact it's like everybody having a remote

Well that is 2 of us happy I posted this, if you save you next set of Clubcard Vouchers you will have enough to buy a MicroSoft Version ROFL!!drgeoff wrote:@fruitoftheloom
Thanks for the headsup on this. I've ordered one from Tesco. The effective cost to me is £9.50 as I used £8.50 Clubcard vouchers doubled up to £17. (Almost always there is never anything we want in the Boost scheme and the vouchers get redeemed at face value against the weekly food bill.)

Off-topic but it does surprise me how a certain segment of technical people don't have or like smartphones, including more than one IT managers I've worked with.W. H. Heydt wrote: I don't have a smart phone. I have a dumb phone.
My Volvo (probably) has more processing power than your smartphone. Do I love it? Not really - it insists on blasting my feet with cold air unless I let the windscreen mist up, and the sat-nav won't show me what's in the field right beside me.mikerr wrote:Off-topic but it does surprise me how a certain segment of technical people don't have or like smartphones, including more than one IT managers I've worked with.
They're basically a computer in your pocket - what's not to love about the techieness of that
I doubt it does have more processing power! Current mobiles are ridiculously powerful, cars computers don't need to be.Burngate wrote:My Volvo (probably) has more processing power than your smartphone. Do I love it? My Vectra let me have warm feet and a clear screen, and my paper map tells me it's an Iron-age fort.
