ok because i am always being accused of cheating at scrabble i am recusing myself from actually finding the words (also can't spell either) so i will act as referee.

i have checked an there are at least 312 valid words possible so lets see who gets closest to or over that number

Probably 11factorial ways to rearrange those words.

https://new.wordsmith.org only discovered 234.

The anagram section of Word Solver Lite on my phone found 363.

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt install an wcanadian # canadian word list because we have the best words ...
$ an -m2 -w 'raspberrypi' | wc -l				# including dubious [A-Z]'s possessive forms
363
$ an -m2 -w 'raspberrypi' | grep -v \' | wc -l	# much better but still has dodgy ones like abbreviations
262
Fun fact: If you do man an, you'll find that one of the authors is just a skosh infamous these days. This was written in his slightly more innocent years.

You all realise this thread is over eight years old.
I believe that makes it the oldest necro yet.

Old but interesting none the less.

Is it a trick question? If you have to use all the letters the answer is zero.

Otherwise the answer is 841:

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get install wbritish-insane
$ an -m2 -w 'raspberrypi' | grep -v \' | wc -l
841
And I learned a new word I never heard before, "skosh". Which is actually in the dictionary.

That's an answer. The wbritish-insane list contains errors and many entries that can't reasonably be called words. And, being British, it won't even know how to spell "yogourt", which is Canada's delightfully unique way of spelling it. Mercifully, there's no yog[h|o]urt in a Raspberry Pi. It'd smell bad after a while.
And I learned a new word I never heard before, "skosh". Which is actually in the dictionary.
You're welcome.
