Re: Slowing down the new servers.

Dear Villains and Mad Evil Scientists:

Our plans of bringing down the Foundation have been foiled again by this server upgrade. More and more people will be able to get real information about this Raspberry Pi device and chose it instead of our evil and expensive inventions.

Let's start a brainstorming session (apologies to an brainless entities) so we can devise a cunning and evil plan to bog down the new servers.

Our motto, as always, is: "Database error"

It's alright: it's in hand.

The next stage is the arrival of the Pis in the hands of the users - expect the database to die under the onslaught of "why can't it run Windows?" "where's the PSU?" "it's got no box!" as well as "my brother's got his - where's mine?" and "my neighbour bought his for $250 on Ebay - will I have to spend the same?"

Don't forget: "Where's the VGA port ?", "My PS/2 Keyboard won't fit", "I plugged my nokia charger in the yellow connector but it does not starts"

Have you tried switching it off and on again?

In all seriousness you need to create a twitterstorm again

I have been on the rag end of one just recently and when you trend worldwide in the top 5 it gets scary if you"re responsible for keeping a website/servers running – and without bragging I managed a little better than the RPF last week
Steve N – binatone mk4->intellivision->zx81->spectrum->cbm64->cpc6128->520stfm->pc->raspi ?

By the way, I noticed that, after some downtime this morning (afternoon, UTC), there are no more Eeadc errors, but we are still running on Wordpress.

Just out of curiosity, are there still plans in the works to switch to a different forum software?
And some folks need to stop being fanboys and see the forest behind the trees.

(One of the best lines I've seen on this board lately)

My favourite quote from EVE Online is:

From a Chinese isk farmer, of course.

Yes, the conversion to phpbb is still planned - probably in a few weeks time - but at least the forum is functioning properly again on its new, improved, bigger than ever server, which was the most urgent problem.
