Farnell have done their best to redirect UK Raspi-hunting visitors to their community and a "register your interest" page, but (for now at least), if you go straight to http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/sear.....KU=2081185 , you should be able to place an order.

Hopefully this might help some UK people who feel frustrated because they can"t place an order (until Farnell decide to remove that link as well ?).

Thank you steviewevie.  I have just "placed an order" using this link which is a lot more than I have been able to do since 6 am on Wednesday.  Order confoirmation says 30 days delivery, which is fantasy of course, but at least now I feel that I am in the queue for the first time.

No idea if any of my many "register interest" attempts went through but I've received no confirmation or email of any kind from anyone.

It deafeats me as to why the foundation decided to have a big PR blast when there is no supply to meet the demand.  By the time there is some supply the demand will have subsided and most of the initial 10k will be gathering dust when non-tech buyers realise they have just bought a slow PC.

Great that you've managed to get an order in. Yeah, ignore their "30 days" thing, you should get an email soon with a more realistic date in it.

Yeah, never mind the ebay [sellers], Farnell are raping the prices on a commercial level.

33.07 eur = 43.65 usd

That"s only 6 dollars less than a base model Roku2, which is a slick 2385 powered media player with a psu, wifi, case, and, I am led to believe, significantly more codec support than the Pi. I"ll just throw that in as a "to ponder" item for those buying a Pi as an xbmc maxchine.

Simon.

It's a bit sad to see the raspi being scuppered by distribution issues. the deal was never as good as it seemed to start with because of all the required extras, but the price hike, inflated S/H charges, and taxes from the distributors pretty much kill the deal. There's a bunch of used laptops on ebay that cost less (25-60€) and include everything required: screen, keyboard, PSU, HD...

I'm not getting one for now.

The link for buying still works, but when I go to checkout, I just get a blank page. I tried registering, but that doesn't fix the issue.

I don't think that Farnell are ripping me off in the UK.  They are charging me just under £30 and by the time you add 20% VAT it looks as if they are charging about £2.50 for shipping.  That seems pretty reasonable to me.

I've started a new thread to try and get a list of where to order from, for different countries. Please help me fill in the list !

I've had four emails from Farnell:

"Welcome to Farnell" from the enquiries email address.

"Your Farnell Order Acknowledgement -" from sales saying "When stock is allocated to your order, we will send you a full order confirmation including prices, availability and expected delivery date."

"Your Farnell Order Confirmation..."  from Sales saying "Your Farnell Order Confirmation. Stock is now allocated to your order" with a PDF giving an estimated delivery date (mid April)

"Urgent Order Information" from sales containing no text but a PDF with the sales details.  The Company is "CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT".

This last I treated with some caution because Thunderbird put it in the junk mail folder but it was valid.

I used the 2081185 part number. The price was just under £30 which is about what I'd expected by the time delivery and 20% VAT are added.

It seems to have helped to be in the UK and it's possible there was a good time - after the first rush had died down and before they had so many orders that they had stopped accepting more.

I'm wondering whether this will work...

Did the same thing on Farnell Germany yesterday and I only received a "Order Acknowledgement" mail for now.

Looks like Farnell UK's web site is broken again.

I can login using my Farnell account details but get a blank page when I attempt to view/checkout my shopping basket.

buddy87: Did you order more than one?

niggle: I don't think its broken, I think its just that they want people to signing up to the expression of interest form rather than preorder.  Presumably to give them time to iron out any remaining pricing kinks.

I don"t mind I got no confirmation, I can clearly see it in my account on farnell so all is good so far, and all items ordered for the project it going to be used for.

Nah, I did the expression of interest thing on launch day. I am now trying to place a proper order (with *free* T-shirt!) after receiving an "exclusive" invitation by email from element14.

Seems to be working now, I have just ordered and paid. Farnell are quoting a 58 day lead time ...

Has anyone worked our why the last email was "urgent"? I received the same and assumed some action was needed on my part but it doesn't give any idea what. I emailed Farnell who replied saying they'd look into it which didn't really make sense as either they know or they don't. The attachment just seems to be a sales receipt.

I also got that urgent email. I think it`s for those who ordered more than one raspberry pi to tell them that only one will be shipped.

Same here. I also got that whole stream of emails from farnell, the last one being the "URGENT" one as well. Don't know why it's urgent either… I only ordered 1 Pi, so that can't be it. I placed my order on the 29th of feb at around 11:00 (gmt + 1).

The estimated delivery date stated in the attached PDF is april 23

Looks like they have now intercepted the link, redirecting it to the "register your interest" page.

Right, using the link below is still working for me right now. DO NOT buy the first item, that's just supposedly the chipset, it doesn't really exist as a product. The product code 2081185 is what you want (Model B). Don't click on the 2081185 link, but you should see a "Buy" button at the right of this screen :

I ordered yesterday at around midday and I am still waiting on an email confirmation from Farnell, it is obviously on back order and I have no idea of a possible delivery date.
