The Abbey area's actually rather nice. It's down by the river, very central and very pretty. I believe Pete ended up there after running a script on some estate agent websites to find the area of town where the average rental price was low compared to the average price of houses. (He's that kind of guy.)
If you're moving round here, I would strongly recommend you look elsewhere than Swavesey and other towns around the A14. The commute will drive you batty. We live near Newmarket, and the roads are good, the countryside pleasant, the crime rate low…and the pub next door has a small brewery.
I can imagine, when I worked at Cyan (in Swavesey) I went up on the Monday morning using the back routes (Cambourne, Boxworth) and came back the same way, the rest of the week I telecommuted from Southampton (which was great ).
Hadn't thought about Newmarket. She who must be obeyed has already defined the requirements for any new house .
I wonder if the 'Misguided' bus goes through the Science Park, I'll have a look.
Thanks for the advice .
