Can REST API be a copyrightable subject matter?

Mon Aug 19, 2019 5:43 pm

For example can I use the same Web API from Spotify for my own server? That could simplify the client implementation which would use the same API to talk to Spotify and to my own server.
Thanks!

Find an IP lawyer and possibly a trademark one as well.

This is a free user supported forum and personally I would not base any legal discussion or plan on details here

Why not email Spotify and ask them ?

They'll either say you can, or can't, or ignore you. You don't have a lot to lose whatever they say.

It would probably be best to explain what the full scope is of what you are planning, whether it's for personal use only, something intended for public use, non-profit, or revenue generating.
