I think if you'd said Dizzy Lizzy then you may have been in the danger zone. :D
Bizzy suggests that you are referring to her work load.

There is VAT on stamps??????? WTF!!!!!!!!

No, there is no VAT on stamps... until a VAT-registered business sticks them on the envelope, and then I am afraid it counts as a service, so they must charge you VAT on the postage too.

Didn't the UK have some problems with one of her colonies a couple hundred years ago over stamp taxes? :-)

They weren't those kind of stamps and they should have paid them seeing as the reason for them was to the benefit of the colonies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.....p_Act_1765

and all the whineing about no taxation without representation, well i'm looking at you District of Columbia. I believe you have a legitimate complaint :)

Clearly Illinois has good representation....and high taxes.
Liz probably has Woman Flu. :-) Get well soon. All Santa's helpers are wanted with nimble packing fingers ASAP. Mind you our Postie has already been reduced to one delivery every other day. Don't know if that is by weight of packages or friendly libations...

If taxation is your metric then we must have a massive amount of representation in the UK :|

Didn't you know, any gift to a postie nowadays will be considered a bribe? *shakes head* I don't know what the Daily Mail is coming to, I'd have thought they'd have enough on their plate spitting vitriol at Brussels at present.

(although I'd be with them if they had a campaign against the present glut of Brussels Sprouts - horrible little bags of pus that they are...)

Best recipe against the cold: kill the little microbes. That should do the trick:

Plus, if they don't actually die, you'll be so out of it you won't care anymore.

Get well soon ^^

I have a neti pot - one of those devices that you stick up your nose and use to a) sluice your sinuses and b) revolt everybody in the vicinity. It usually works better than this an knocking colds on the noggin; I blame Raspi stress.

I made Chicken Soup and Dumplings yesterday (no suet allowed in the house unfortunatly so bisquik dumplings) and it's ripened nicely so should be ready for eating. I'll send you a bowl but it might be a bit cold when it gets there though.

aw, I'm a little disappointed. You made it sound really awesome, but I really can't stand the taste of watered down rum (or whiskey for that matter... or any strong alcoholic beverage really). Still, I'm willing to taste just about anything once, I'll give it a shot the next time I have some rum in the home!

Now I need to go find my Prusser's cup and have it down to Sandy Bottoms. :-)

Originally it was only watered down because Navy rum was 110 proof. (So not very watery.)

@JamesH - With the way my head is feeling from this Flu, it was misspelling and laziness. And you are right, it does carry meaning in both usages. (Boy, that is a Flame on some members of the forum.) I remember writing that line, and thinking it sounded right and looked wrong. One of the Joys of being trained as a Phonic Reader and Speller, my spelling sucks! I am one more example of a quality US Gov't education on a different military base every year of growing up.

My spelling IS a reason why I'm putting a plan together for a series of "free to the user" tools; a really good dictionary, spelling tutor, ESL trainer, and quote directory. Add to that a series of testing tools to be ready for the US college entrance exams, GED and military tests. Also Fiscal education and Productive / GTD ( Get Things Done ) tools. Of course, I'll add to the Programmers-in-Training materials. Why else did I keep decades of Byte, KiloBaud and Interface Age all these years. ;-)

I personally view the R-Pi as an Educational Tool for everyone, not just for future programmers. This mental thread belongs and needs expansion elsewhere, not in this current series of thoughts about why the forum is quiet. Maybe when there is a higher ratio of teachers/trainers vs hackers/geeks I'll raise this as a thread.
