@sav25,
It's 2015, websites have ads, get used to it or get an ad blocker?
Nope. Won't get used to it. In this modern world we are bombarded with advertising from all directions no matter where you go or what you do. On TV and radio, on the net, in the street, by the road side, at the bus stop, in the cafe, at the movies, everywhere.

It's not subtle. It's abusive. Given the way ads try to dominate your attention and worm their way into you mind and change your very consciousness I would say they are actually evil. And to rub it in I was reading today how someone is wanting to bring legal action against a provider of ad blocking software. Now they want to dictate that ads are compulsory and dictate what I can run on my computer.
The Pi is a gadget, people speculate about new gadget releases - this is quite normal. Are you from the past?
Yes I'm from the past. As are we all. Nothing wrong with a one line speculative comment in passing conversation. I guess I was just a bit miffed at being led to a page and finding myself wasting time reading something totally useless and uninformative.

@Liz,

We are not such meanies, really, honest. Might get a tad annoyed sometimes.

Anyway, I thought we had just got a new Pi model. I have two of them. Thank you Pi Foundation for all your hard work and the resulting wonderful gadgets. If any thing new and wonderful comes along that would be a bonus. I'm busy making use of what I have got.

I wonder if it's a new Pi that can be fitted nasally?

Well said, me too!
I'm not sure that people actually realise we are all paying for it on eveything that we purchase.

That would be a HedgehogPi surely? ;)

Thread edited of rudeness. Which would come back to haunt the poster. Because of things.

I think, as with everything on this subject, that people should chill out and be patient. The MagPi is out Thursday, it appears to be hiding something exciting. You only have to wait until....Thursday. You know, the day after Wednesday (which is tomorrow).

You realise that they can all type when heavily intoxicated? It's part of the entrance exam. You should never judge a employee by their typing. Although ON Friday afternoon I locked myself out of my laptop when I forgot my password.

Thanks Phil.

My thoughts started as a result of tweets from the Foundation and the MagPi teasing at something BIG in 2 days time. The release is all secret squirrel (which is fun), so I'm not pulling this out of thin air as people have suggested.

Maybe there are rules to this - you can guess what it is, but don't you dare consider that this might be a new Pi release! :D
It's probably the next edition of MagPi, its that time of month again.

See I'd never vote for that. Ads help keep my site up, which I enjoy writing on and believe it or not others seem to like reading. I give stuff away here and there (posting with my own £) if companies send me things, and generally try to maintain an overall 'nice site' - but I'd never force ads on anyone like some of the bigger sites with their full page 'you must click me' ads.

I have nothing against the use of ad blockers either, it means you have a choice and I don't try to take that away.

I also don't place any ads in the content of my posts, which I know is more profitable. Why? Because whilst ads 'support' my site, they're not the reason I do it, and I also hate it when stuff is in the way of content. I guess in an ideal world I'd sell the ad space to Pi shops or other relevant stores, which would make a lot more sense to readers.

Hopefully that explains my angle a bit more, and makes you less likely to attack me at Pi Wars when I'm busy fixing a motor :)

Or not...this is the internet after all...full of virtual enemies.

Hmm did I go off topic? :?

There was any earlier thread about adding multi Hats.
I'll get one and have a play around with it.
So what's the big news about tomorrow then?

Stacking HATs is unsupported, so any strange hardware offered to do it is breaking the HAT Law. Your HAT may not fit.

This week's special event is the unveiling of the Xmas number of the "official" MagPi Magazine, nothing more, nothing less, nothing to get over excited about.

Most of us are quite used to wearing multiple hats. Do Pis, like pets, grow to be like their owners?

A "CM2" is just a matter of time, and it would not surprise me if it came fairly soon.

There may be a "RPi2 Model A" in the future, but I don't think that will come soon.

As I recall, both of the above were discussed by Eben as possible future products.

Anything else would not show up in the near term.

My guess is MagPi is going to be running a "build this" series with included parts over the next few months. As to what "this" will be I have no idea. Or perhaps a set of vouchers, collect the lot and get a free Pi.

Build your own Pi3 - 1 bit free in this issue ;)

Or a Pi powered laptop. It's got an advert about issue 40 being a stocking filler.

It must be something interesting because the Forum Moderators are looking at the thread.

Maybe it's something Retro going back to bedroom coding as most of the Raspberry Pi engineers would have cut their teeth on a ZX81 or Spectrum. I know, it's a build your own Cassette Recorder.

Sources tell me with 100% certainty that a new faster Raspberry Pi board is coming out in the future.
