Well sort of, it is not "NEW" it is a redesign of the A+........................in a smaller form factor with peripherals removed
Yes, he needs an apology for the nasty words some in this thread wrote.

Poppycock 'redesign'. Its a new Pi. Every Pi is a sort of redesign. And it is welcome!
No because he was intimating all sorts of extras over the capabilities of what the BCM2835/6 is capable of...................which would of meant a new SoC

If he had actually intimated an edition to the existing Pi Family then would of not taken to task someone who had not actually researched what the RPi SoC is capable of....

So no apology will be given for my responses and rather than PoppyCock, I will say BalderDash

OK, it's a fair cop, it was me.

Very sorry sav25. How wrong could we be?

Well, I'm going to count this as a new Pi.

New improved low cost. New improved power consumption (I presume). New small form factor. New neat connector layout.

Sweet.

Reading this thread this morning is awesome.

Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

OK, it's "laugh". No contest :)

I think, as with everything on this subject, that people should chill out and be patient. The MagPi is out Thursday, it appears to be hiding something exciting. You only have to wait until....Thursday. You know, the day after Wednesday (which is tomorrow).
Well, Today is the day after Wednesday, and indeed it was well worth the patience. :-)
I just read the new MagPi. So neat, the new Pi ZERO. The Pi Foundation never stops to amaze us, isn't it?

This time I agree with Fruity. SAV25 predicted a completely new machine. This isn't a brand new machine it's the same processor / SoC with all the funky adapters stripped off (to the bare minimum microHDMI, microUSB, microUSB (power only)).

So I stand by my "The RPF would be mad to release a new computer this close to Xmas". I think they've done something fantastic and should have trapped the "I can't pay £35 for a toy for you for Xmas" market. I bet Dave Akerman is busy buying up lots of PiZeros because they'll be easier to fly on his HABs.

It is funny reading all these self defence posts.

I predicted a new Raspberry Pi. Today, there is a new Raspberry Pi. I predicted at a high level, and at a high level there is a new Pi today. I don't think people around the internet are saying "It's not a new Raspberry Pi, it's a Pi2/B+ but smaller"...

I 'speculated' at the potential features based on what people have been crying out for, and these speculations were mostly wrong apart from the size change.

^^ You see what I did there guys? I put my hand up when I was wrong about something - it's easy, it really is, and it actually comes across better than pretending you were right all the time...

Show's over folks - new Pi released, let's go enjoy it :D

I'm most expecting the 3rd option, it's the foundations purpose.
I've got six now (sorry anybody else who went to WHSmiths at Chancery Lane, I bought their entire stock), I've already given one to someone I work with and three others will be given to friends tonight. the fifth will be for my nephew and the sixth is (of course) for me.

Got to disagree, of course it's a new model: new form factor, new (trimmed down) feature spec, revolutionary price point.

In the history of the Pi, the only variants I would not class as a new models would be the Rev1 with the fuses mod & the Rev2 when it went from 256 to 512MiB.

No Richard, you cruelly stalked us on twitter, made our lives a misery and the press have been dogging our every step since your blog post. Shame on you! Shame on you!

I jest of course. Great detective work! But of the several times I've been to Pi Towers this year, that was the only one just before a launch. So you were "a bit jammy" as well

It's kind of funny though that this time there wasn't a major leak, even though, with all those magazine retailers involved, it was highly likely someone would have tweeted a photo before time.
