Washington DC UG?

Mon May 28, 2012 10:41 am

How many people in the area have one yet?

Are you willing to meet ?
vs. staying home and playing with RPi :-)

Anyone selling cases nearby?

Got mine 31May. Used hexxeh's image. I think i should have used Pisces - fewer things to setup. boy, it sure was hard to go into work today. RPi is calling.
i am outside the beltway, ~35 miles to the northwest.

I live near Damascus, MD and would be happy to offer our home as a meeting place, if it's not too far away.

Just got mine yesterday. I put on the Debian Squeeze since I am most familiar with Debian. I have had mostly "end user" experience as I have not done much programming, but am looking forward to truly exploring what this little device can do.

Hi,
The two I ordered just got in. I just got the SD Disk and hope to have one of them up this weekend. Live in Millersville, Md, near Glen Burnie. :geek:

So the question is, "What are you going to do with it?".
Originally I intended to get 5 and do a network simulator, but now I can do that easier using VM's, So I ordered two and want to use them to learn robotics and motor control.

The plan is to add a USB hub (powered if I can), and a motorbee board and drive 6v or 12v motors in my ultimate geek project. The motorbee board connects via USB and can run either 4 single direction or 2 reversible DC motors with an external PS.

Before you get impressed, I have no idea how to do any of this stuff yet. The whole idea started out as part of a plot for a book I want to write (aka research) . But I am a Linux Admin and this seems to be the perfect solution to other problems as well.

Just got my Pi and have barely opened the box, let alone done anything interesting with it.

Would be interested in a D.C.-area UG. I'm in Arlington.

Got mine about 2 weeks ago and ordered another one today. Interested to know more about it and find if it can be used as a FW server using pfSence or similar and give access to network drives.

I just ordered two Pis - should get them this week. One is for me and one for my Enginerring student son.
I live in Silver Spring and he lives in College Park and we would both join a local UG.

Greetings from Enthought,

I wanted to reach out and let you know that we will be holding an Intensive Python Training Class in DC from July 15-19. The exact venue is TBD, but if you wanted to share with your group, that would be wonderful.

You can read more about the classes here: https://enthought.com/services/training/

Thanks so much!

Best,

Majken

Hi.
My sister is traveling to Washington and I asked her to bring me some Raspberries.
Would you know where she can buy them?

In reply to above (sort of)
I tried to install Canopy on Pi2, got as far as having it on menu but that is it. It seems to be incompatible with Raspberry Pi
