I'm in Sheffield too, and would be interested. How about the University Arms just off Brook Hill Roundabout?

Karl.

I'm in Sutton on Trent and very interested. My RPI hasn't arrived yet - shouldn't be long now.

Hi,
I live in Sheffield and have a Pi.
I've had it since early May, and yes I did get up ridiculously early on launch day.

I'm no Linux expert but know my way around...
Happy to help out, run some small demos etc.

Andy.

Ooops - missed the chat yesterday. I live in Sheffield and have (finally) got my Pi.

I'd be interested in a Sheffield based group or possibly Huddersfield as I work there.

I know I'm late to the party but I'd be interested.
Rotherham here.

Edit: After seeing there was already a meet on GistHub I was wondering how it went and if anything further was planned?

I'm probably short of confidence. new language etc. had a good time at a recent Nottingham meeting which helped somewhat. I'm an oldPC user used to windows and dos.

Any plans for a meet soon?

I went to the meet and it was great! Nice mix of people, from software engineers to general geeks to a couple of IT teachers. Several folks brought their kid along, one of them was leading a breakout session on using a Pi as a 3d printer controller! Lots of fun was had trying to control an arduino, program games in scratch and generally playing around.

I can't wait for next meet (last wednesday of the month, 25th July 6.30pm). If you are into other aspects of geekery in Sheffield then definately check out the GIST Hub - it's got loads of different strands of activity going on.

There's a Sheffield pi jam on the last Wednesday of every month 6:30 pm at the gist hub in the city center... that's the only south Yorkshire meet I know of atm.

Where's the gist hub in relation to the train station please? I'm in Chesterfield so Sheffield's only a few minutes on the train.

Its 5 mins from the station, Google gist hub sheffield, you should be able to get the directions. Everyone goes to the main reception of the building it's under, gist hub is down the alley at the side.

Thanks tzj; looks like it's almost over the road from the station. Just had a look on Street view and I recognise the weird kettle-shaped building. Reckon I could find the place easily enough.

Missed a Sheffield event earlier in the year :( hope there are going to be more events soon ?

I'm from Chesterfield and would be interested in doing something local as well, per previous posts train isn't an issue, apart from last train home being to early ! I'm involved with the WEA and would be interested in seeing if we can do something at the WEA adult education centre at Hurst House on Abercrombie Street ?

Looking at http://rastrack.co.uk/ there should be a few people in the area ?

Appreciate you may know most of this already, but the following is a link to material I have used previously to show complete new comers what the Raspberry Pi is all about :-

Cheers
