ubuntu

this may be a long shot but has anyone tried or looked into ubuntu running or porting it to the pi??

Wait, shouldn't it be possible because android can have Ubuntu or is the Armv6 not that powerful for such thing?

The Arm is powerful enough, but Canonical do not support the Armv6 instruction set, so Ubuntu won't work. Ubuntu though is based on Debian, as is Raspbian, the recommended distro.
