Opening a file into StrongED

Sat Apr 09, 2016 8:27 pm

How do I open an existing file into StrongEd?. I tried dragging the file into the editpr window but with strange results. First the contents are shown with a white background and then on editing a line, the inserts are repeated on the line below. What is the correct way to open an existing file?
Thanks.

There are several ways to load files into StrongED:
  • If it's a text file then you can just double-click it.
  • Double-click with Shift held down to load non-text files.
  • You can also drag files or directories to the iconbar-icon.
  • Ctrl-drag a directory to control which filetypes are loaded.
If you drag a file to an open text window then the file is inserted into the (empty) text. In this case StrongED will select the text and any edits will be block-edits, ie they will be applied to every selected line. If you deselect the text using Ctrl-Z first then you can edit it normally.

This is an excellent response, I did find method (3) and I am going to print your email for future reference.
