Help with pacman and git-kernel

Fri Jul 20, 2012 7:32 pm

I now am using the self compiled kernel from git. But I guess if Arch comes up with a new kernel-image my kernel will be overwritten.
How can I still do a pacman -Syu without loosing my kernel? Is there a function like "hold" in debian?

Ah, Ok, I found the IgnorePkg in /etc/pacman.conf
can I add more by seperating them with comma?

Try `man pacman`, I think there is an `--ignore` flag.

In `pacman.conf`, I think there is `IgnorePkg` - again, `man pacman.conf`.

If you do this you must also ignore raspberrypi-firmware, to be on the safe side.

Thank you pepedog.
So now my IgnorePkg looks like this:

Code: Select all

# Pacman won't upgrade packages listed in IgnorePkg and members of IgnoreGroup
IgnorePkg   = linux-raspberrypi,linux-headers-raspberrypi,raspberrypi-firmware
#IgnoreGroup =
Is it ok so?

What's in your custom kernel? Perhaps it can be included in the arch package?

"For multiple packages use a space-separated list, or use additional IgnorePkg lines." (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman)

Ah, Thank you. In the manpage they did not mention whether it was comma-seperated or space-seperated. This is much clearer. Thanks again.

Lirc_rpi only. You remember Kevin closed my feature request? http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 53&t=10747

Return to “Arch”
