I'm sorry for my English in first post.

I have got Huawey E3131 USB modem and I would like to use this modem with Raspberry Pi, but I can not find driver/module for Raspbian.

Is it possible to install the modem on the Raspberry Pi?

I have a Huawei E160 I managed to get it working for serial port communication but the dial-up Internet part didn't work for some reason.
Maybe you will have better luck than me http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 6&p=146663

I installed Option iCon 225 on PC Debian and I hope it is similar method such as:
1. I use usb_modeswitch from here: http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/
2. I use HSO driver from here: http://www.pharscape.org/icon225.html

...and I don't use pppd or other standard solutions.

Now I find usb_modeswitch for arm: http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswit ... static.bz2
I try it...

I can switch modem from CD to modem by using usb_modeswitch.

Code: Select all

apt-get install usb-modeswitch
usb_modeswitch -v 12d1 -p 14fe -V 12d1 -P 1506 -M "55534243123456780000000000000011062000000100000000000000000000"
Then I need wvdial for Raspbian Wheezy armel. Where can I find it?

I have Debian Wheezy Armel and I cannot install sakis3g. Where can I find sakis3g? I have got only http://debian.net/debian into my sources.list file.

Edit 19:50: E3131 work with CDMA networks, but sakis3g doesn't work with CDMA. :(

AT commands works... :D

... but NetworkManager, Sakis3G, doesn't work for my E3131 with CDMA networks, WvDial not exist into repo. :(

So I need other script or program to manage the modem.

What can you suggest?

I used command lsusb and I see:

Code: Select all

Bus 001 Device 007: ID 12d1:1506 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E398 LTE/UMTS/GSM Modem/Networkcard
...but I have E3131 modem.

Modems E3131 and E398 are different. E3131 have CDMA support, but E398 haven't CDMA support.

Maybe is it a driver problem :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Hi there!
I have bought Raspberry Pi today and I would like to connect it to the Internet via 3G, but i am begginer.
I have E398, but probably i will buy E3131 anyway.
Can you tell me in ordinary language how to connect E3131 or E398?
I have only clear installation of Raspbian “wheezy” and its my first time with linux. I want to learn something new, but i dont really know how to start...
I tried with Sakis3G scripts, but i dont really know how set up the modem...
Do I need any other files?
Thanks for replies, and sorry for my low experience.

First you connect modem to USB and make two commands:

Code: Select all

lsusb
dmesg
and results paste here.

PS.
English is my second language.

Curious how your guys speeds are. Mine through wvdial with PPP are really slow. I went through and checked all baud rates matched for a consistent flow but I get like 32-64KBps where 3g should be near 1MB/sec. Any ideas how to open that up?
