ADS1115-ADC Module for Raspberry PI 3 B+

Thu Feb 28, 2019 11:56 am

I have purchased a ADS1115-ADC Module for my Raspberry 3 B+ for audio streaming.
I want to stream Line Level Audio from a mono PA amp. There are six screw terminals for the input GND, ANO, AN1, An2, AN3, 3V3.
What two terminals do I use for the Line Level input?

The ADS1115 maximum sample rate is 860 samples per second.

For audio you need at least 40 000 samples per second for each channel.

The ADS115 has 4 analog inputs

you need to connect the ground and use AN0 and AN1 for left and right. Ground AN2 and AN3 if you don't used them!

Thank you for the reply!
Just to confirm; Since my source is mono (I only have two wires from the amp) I would use GND and AN0?
Then use a jumper wire from GND to AN1, AN2, AN3?
Is this correct?

Yes! and ground AN1 , AN2 and AN3.

You won't be able to get higher the 430Hz in frequency. You need at least two samples per cycle.

The Pi is not able to give you a constant sampling rate. It will interrupt to do some other task.

A typical adult female voice frequency is around 165 to 255 Hz then don't expect Hifi sound. You will find that the signal is chop, contains silent gap and it is mostly low base frequency.

Would this be the better ADC choice for streaming audio?
HIFIBERRY DAC+ ADC
COMPATIBLE WITH: RASPBERRY PI A+/B+/2B/3B/3B+/ZERO
Our HiFiBerry DAC+ ADC combines our well-know DAC+ with an analogue input. Both input and output support sample rates up to 192kHz.

I would get a usb audio adapter with line level inputs.
