sudo apt install kodi kodi-pvr-hts
is a good start.

With my last install of TVHeadEnd I simply set the userid and password to "kodi" for the super user. I didn't bother with a lower privileged user. That may change later if I think the system needs more security.

I'm still not 100% with Kodi (and I've no idea how to get a screen grab).

My latest eBay purchase is a caravan antenna: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132717520325, I'm hoping that will be good enough for my portable DVB TV.

Unless you are in a strong signal area you may struggle to get HD channels. It would be good to hear how you get on with it though. Would be great to have a solution for when I'm away from home.

I also got BBC1 on a quick and dirty stream by running with wget, a fifo and Omxplayer.

mkfifo /tmp/tvpipe
wget "http://localhost:9981/stream/channelid/ ... ofile=pass" -http-user=kodi -http-password=kodi -O /tmp/tvpipe &
omxplayer /tmp/tvpipe

which will test things nicely.
This should work:

Code: Select all

omxplayer --live http://[user]:[pass]@[IP address]:9981/stream/channelnumber/[Channel Number]
I don't think the fifo should be necessary.

I'll give that a try when I'm done with, finally, putting my weather station outside.

I've never explored what Omxplayer can do. All this TV HAT & TVHeadEnd stuff is completely alien territory to me.
