Infrared port

Hi I'm new here and new to Raspberry pi

i want to build a media center with xbmc, But i want to use a remote aswell, is there any guide or an idea on how to make it work?

Does your TV support CEC? That's the neatest solution.

I am running the RC4 of RaspBMC, and using an MCE IR controller I bought off eBay for around £5.25. Works out of the box, but I have also remapped some of the keys - possible in RaspBMC. Hope that helps.

Thx for the quick answers. I was going to build a costum case to it aswell so i wanted to find a solution were i could add a ir port to it. But i think i have an idea on how to make it...

The £5.25 included an IR port on an extending usb lead.

Would something like this work "out of the box"? If not or not sure, which device was used for IR? There are quite a few on eBay
