I2C based RS-485 master board

Sat Jul 30, 2016 10:20 pm

I want to use RS-485 to transmit over several hundred feet, and I am wondering if there is an I2C based RS-485 master board available anywhere. In other words, I want a daughterboard/hat/whatever that connects to the I2C bus on the RaspberryPi. It doesn't have to be a transparent repeater.

Here's another RS485 module that's designed to work with the Pi:

So you are looking for RS-485 on the pi? I thought you meant you wanted to connect something with an I2C interface to RS-485 and then to the pi. Basically:

pi--->---RS-485 +++++++ RS-485--->---I2C

Seems you are more looking for the left side of this than the right. But is I2C actually involved, is the right side relevant to your application?
