Problem with Camera mmal_vc_component_create: failed to crea

Fri Nov 21, 2014 12:02 pm

Hi,

I have a Raspberry Pi B+ with a PiNoir camera.

I'm using the 9 Sept 2014 Raspian image (not NOOBS)

With SD card 1 all works fine.

With SD Card 2 I repeatedly get this error:

Code: Select all

pi@raspberrypi ~ $ raspistill -o t1.jpg
mmal: mmal_vc_component_create: failed to create component 'vc.ril.camera' (1:ENOMEM)
mmal: mmal_component_create_core: could not create component 'vc.ril.camera' (1)
mmal: Failed to create camera component
mmal: main: Failed to create camera component
mmal: Camera is not enabled in this build. Try running "sudo raspi-config" and ensure that "camera" has been enabled
To date I've done the following:

sudo apt-get update & upgrade
Formatted the problem card with SDFormatter V4.0 and loaded teh image again with Win32DiskImager

and tried again - I did enable the camera repeatedly in raspi-config

I have 3 other Pi's with cameras working and this one is the first one I have a problem.

Can't understand why it works with 1 SD card and not with the other :)

What Am I missing?

Thanks
Nico

Hello,

What about 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade'.
May need the latest camera progs.

I have a similar problem. Enabling the camera in raspi-config doesn't seem to survive the reboot. Upgrading the dist didn't help. :(
