Favorite Camera Mount / Accessories?

Sat Nov 01, 2014 8:00 pm

Hi all, I'm finally getting around to playing with a camera module (I know, shame on me for taking so long!), and I wanted some input on what your favorite method for mounting the camera has been. The basic idea is for it to sit on surface and look where I point it, but some flexibility on the direction and angle would be nice. Thus far the only options I've seen have been a triangle like piece of plastic that gives you one and exactly one viewing option. It would also be nice to be able to put a wide angle adapter on the camera and would appreciate feedback on what you found useful and what you found useless.

Hello,

Google search:- "raspberry pi flexible camera mount"
Throws up these and a quite a few others.

I don't know anything useful about wide angle attachments.

have you actually tried either of those? I ran across those today, but lamentably there's a bit of a surcharge on those items since I live in the states and I'm reluctant to purchase something over 5 bucks for this project unless someone can vouch for their usefulness (after all if things get to expensive, I'm losing the benefit of using the Pi). More than just a here let me google that for you, I was hoping to hear what people have tried and found useful (and what they've tried and found lacking).

I bought a couple of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F0X ... UTF8&psc=1 on April, was pretty straight forward installing and using with my camera module.

Hope this can help you.

Did you have any problem with them being fragile? I read some reviews on a similar one that either the pi hut or adafruit was selling (I forget which) and there seemed to be a lot of complaints about the clips that held the two boards together being prone to breaking.

abishur:

Of course they are fragile! Those are delicate pieces made with plastic, not carbon fiber.

Unless you need a very strong base, this will be suitable for the most purposes.

Below are the links to my Facebook albums with the commented pictures of my adventures with this device:
