picam producing strong orange tint

Hi!

I have experienced this now quit often:
the rpi-cam does produce images with a very strong orange tint during sunset. (even without direct sun).

While with the naked eye or an iphone camera it has more of a pink touch...

So I wonder if there is anything to do about it?
I guess it is a repeated question, but I have not found anything...

Thanks, Martin

p.s: Note that I use the PyCam interface and standard settings or everything.

might be an overexposure in the red and green channels, because the autoexposure is not tuned for small areas of very bright and very non-white light.

Might also be affected by a strong fraction of infrared near sunset, some of it gets through the IR-cut filter. The camera would record a different color than the eye in that situation, because even with the IR-cut filter, the camera still has more sensitivity to IR relative to the human eye. Maybe the iphone has a better IR-cut filter(?)

With the new camera V2.1 it looks as if the red/orange tint is gone.

(But there may be some awb issues during cloudy/hazy conditions - more observations are needed -> different thread)
