As of 2015 HTML5 browsers still don't have support for video/MP2T, so you can use a flash player or vlc plugin.

Got a fairly low latency (200-500ms) demo running using WebRTC. WebRTC is the new cross-browser standard for Skype-like communication without plugins. Problem is codecs. For some weird political reason Firefox supports H.264, but Chrome does not (yet).

Needs a WebRTC messaging server, for which I opted for Janus project.

See my brief tutorial here:

Doing this I get the following error:

pi@raspberrypi1 ~ $ raspivid -o - -t 0 |cvlc -v stream:///dev/stdin --sout '#rtp{sdp=rtsp://:8554/}' :demux=h264
VLC media player 2.0.3 Twoflower (revision 2.0.2-93-g77aa89e)
[0x112640] inhibit interface error: Failed to connect to the D-Bus session daemon: Unable to autolaunch a dbus-daemon without a $DISPLAY for X11
[0x112640] main interface error: no suitable interface module
[0x114aa8] main interface error: no suitable interface module
[0x1008f0] main libvlc error: interface "globalhotkeys, none" initialization failed
[0x114aa8] dummy interface: using the dummy interface module...
[0x121010] main input error: Invalid PCR value in ES_OUT_SET_(GROUP_)PCR !

Is the above anything to be worried about? Is something not working correctly?

It seems to display the video ok...

Firefox works fine for me, both the browser and the app. I used UV4L_server for streaming. Only trouble I experience is getting the video over a gateway - which would probably boil down to a configuration error in my router.

Reproduction quality is for the biggest part depending on the size of the picture, keeping the Pi busy (the cpu indicator is best kept in the 80-95% range). It's running smoothly at 7FPS with 832x704 pixels in MJPEG with some picture enhancements and graphic overlay. I'm satisfied with color balance and light sensitivity. There's little time lag, less than halve a second.

Does someone know how to put out the pilot light via software? There's an irritating glare in the glass window I'm shooting through.
